Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Essentially we are all going to end up wearing Vegta's eye-wear without the pink tint. |
Ovrot
02.23.13 | no pink tint = no buy |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | they are making this thing so it can be integrated with shades and prescription wear tho |
Funeralopolis
02.23.13 | as reddit pointed out:
>run up to someone wearing glasses
>yell "google glass search for pictures of horse dicks"
> disappear into the night |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Solution: GOOGLE GLASS INITIATE SELF-VOICE TRACKING
oh sorry bro looks like it only works with my voice good try tho |
foxblood
02.23.13 | damn so future |
Funeralopolis
02.23.13 | yea I got giddy when I first saw this being developed, really goes to show the future is now. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | this is the future |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | this completely side-lined me lol I am unbelievably excited |
Calc
02.23.13 | >run up to someone wearing glasses
>yell "google glass search for pictures of horse dicks"
> disappear into the night
lol. |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | Doesn't work, reads bone vibrations of the wearer.
Will buy. And mod. |
Calc
02.23.13 | then shake them as you yell it.
I cant wait for the pop culture backlash from this. googleheads or some shit is what these people will be called. or maybe simply androids. |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | It could be a viable excuse for those fake black glasses that got so popular, though I'm not sure if Glass can be attached to any old pair. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Yea because people call people with androids Androids and people with iPhones iPeople.
You idiot :P |
Calc
02.23.13 | you get my point though, there will be some name for people who walk around with these on ya know? if i were a sociologist i'd be very interested in how this permeates socially. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Yea there probably will those people but who cares I'll be too busy updating my facebook with cool
videos and pictures |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | I think that the people who consider it too awkward to wear should re-evaluate how often they are on their phone's or tablets in public; I don't really see how this is so different other than being less invasive. |
Relinquished
02.23.13 | saw this coming and read about this long ago
but yeah once they fix all the bad shit that could happen i'll be like vegeta finally my wish will come true |
Calc
02.23.13 | I need to develop an app that's a scouter I'll be a fuking millionaire |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | It makes a lot of sense to have this instead of tablets or phones. Instead of looking down at your
phone or tablet you can include whatever you're doing into your immediate social situation |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | Yup, and I hope they keep their open-minded approach to how people may use this; porn and other various activities can benefit a lot from this.
I'd hate to see it "locked" |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | lol I doubt that'll happen, maybe a child-lock but google are good at keeping information open for
people |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | I assume it's going to require a google account however, which in addition to the GPS should be quite
interesting. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Probably, but Google hasn't developed the product to be exclusive to their social media. Zuckelberg said he's waiting on the official launch so that the team he currently has signed for the project can begin developing apps for it. |
ncguitar
02.23.13 | I don't need a scouter, I'm a saiyan! |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | Cool, good to hear. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | yea, but I am mostly super stoked about how convenient this will make life. |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | Really depends on the data plan coverage, my city has issues sometimes. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Yea that could be a problem but I noticed recently in the news that data plans and internet have been
getting better with new technologies that have been coming out this year. France is now boasting to
have better coverage than Japan, South Korea, Ghana, Singapore etc. That's a pretty big deal since
their access through their devices is basically instant. |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | I just hope the USA follows, love to have some Google Fiber and wifi here. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Maybe man but companies seem to be running out of the USA as fast as they can. You guys have a lot of troubles right now apparently |
Acanthus
02.23.13 | We've many issues that's for sure. KC isn't that far from me so I hope Fiber moves my way/makes enough waves that speeds are increased across the board. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | true that broheim |
MO
02.23.13 | walkin' around lookin' like geordi laforge awww yea |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | lol it's not going to be THAT crazy |
Funeralopolis
02.23.13 | fiber rules |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Future+: tomorrow is today
iFuture: we're getting there... |
MO
02.23.13 | easiest $1500 any theif can nab right off your face, you better develop cat-like reflexes if you want to own a pair of these!! |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | that could damage the product |
climactic
02.23.13 | looks awesome but its creepy at the same time, pretty soon we they will start merging our brains with our computers and we will become half robot |
MO
02.23.13 | that's pretty much the way the human species is headed at the moment, GET INFORMATION AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!!! DUDE YOU ONLY HAVE 3G I HAVE 4 OMG!!!! I WIN
it's a bit of a clusterfuck |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | that doesn't seem bad to me lol |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Look guys as far as I am concerned roboticism is nothing really to fear since roboticism intrinsically is an extension of human thought and ability.
If anything it's just our way of enhancing ourselves, something we have always wanted to do which is why we are so apt to create what doesn't already exist. |
climactic
02.23.13 | didnt say bad, its just pretty crazy to think about |
Calc
02.23.13 | this sounds like the whole premise of the last deus ex game. |
Eclecticist
02.23.13 | Yea. I remember a few days ago I watched a video of the first ever guy to get two fully functioning arms transplanted to him after his had been blown off by a landmine.
We are really living in a golden age of human capability right now and it is only getting more and more blind blowing! |
geasoftime
02.23.13 | Yes! Thank you for informing me of Matmos. I hadn't heard. I'm pretty excited. |
