Drumming Tunes

Yes, i have to admit im a bit of a drum fanatic. I first started out rplaying the guitar 6 years rago, played for 2 years and then rrealised i basically enjoyed hitting stuff hard more than rplacing my rfingertips on strings of metal. So anyway i thought id put together ra list of tunes rthat i even now, 4 years later, jam almost every day ron my set. If you got any great drum rtunes to share, then please rdo so.
1Porcupine tree
In Absentia

|Song: The Sound of Muzak | Drummer: Gavin Harrison | One of my favorite drummers of all time and definitely one of the songs ive played the very most over the years. Extremely effective 7/8 groove overdiding 2 bars that never gets old to my ears.
2Rush
Signals

|Song: Subdivisions | Drummer: Neil Peart | Classic Peart drumming with many interesting passages throughout the entire song. Especially great for warming up
3Tool
Lateralus

|Song: The Patient | Drummer: Danny Carey| Another drummer that has had a huge influence on me ever since i heard him for the very first time 5 years ago. The Patient is a constant mood changer and therefore requires both soft and heavy drumming, which gives great variation. The ride cymbal part at 5:10 is one of my all-time favorite passages and a pure joy to play.
4Oceansize
Frames

|Song: Commemorative T-Shirt | Drummer: Mark Heron | Great great song in 11/8 and a really good tune if you want to get comfortable with the odd time signature. Mark Heron is a beast.
5Toto
Toto IV

|Song: Rosanna | Drummer: Jeff Porcaro | Easy, nice and groovy song with laid down by the great Jeff Porcaro(R.I.P). Always a blast to play this, as it leaves quite alot of room for improvisation.
6Dan Swano
Moontower

|Song: Uncreation | Drummer: Dan Swan? | Awesomeness.
7Ozric Tentacles
The Hidden Step

|Song: Aramanu | Drummer: Conrad Prince | Awesome drumming song with a lot of open space to experiment with. The whole middle-eastern vibe also gives the song a nice touch.
8Eric Johnson
Venus Isle

|Song: Manhattan | Drummer: Tommy Taylor | Tune made for nice, relaxed and easy playing. Good song when you want to practice on keeping things simple. Keep the blast beats away from this one.
9Iona
Open Sky

|Song: Castlerigg | Drummer: ..... | Nice, epic sounding folk tune with bagpipes and everything. Heavy ass tribal drumming is required in the beginning of the song until it later transforms into a quicker, more proggy type of feel. Great song.
10Porcupine Tree
Nil Recurring

|Song: What Happens Now? | Drummer: Gavin Harrison | One again a great display of drumming skill from Gavin harrison. Beginning is a nice practice on snare stroke technique while the last part of the song test your brain to the max with a nice 4 over 3 polyrhythm.
11 JJ Cale & Eric Clapton
The Road To Escondido

|Song: Cocaine | Drummer: ...... | Niiiice
12The Reign Of Kindo
Rhythm, Chord & Melody

|Song: Till we Make Our Ascent | Drummer: Steven Padin | Great song in 3 with a nice jazzy feel to it. Really good for practicing quick hands and ghost notes on the snare. Steven Padin should get more cred for his performance on this record.
13Billy Cobham
Spectrum

|Song: Stratus | Drummer: Billy Cobham | Legend. Such a motherfucking legend. Groovin away, the moments that make up a dull day.
14Yes
90125

|Song: Changes | Drummer: Alan White | Cool song with a nice medium kind of difficulty. Starts of with a hectic intro with alternating bars of 7/4 and 10/4, which then cools of into a nice groove.
15Opeth
Damnation

|Song: Windowpane | Drummer: Martin Lopez | Cool
16Al Di Meola
Elegant Gypsy

|Song: Midnight Tango | Drummer: Steve Gadd | Thank you Steve Gadd. Thank you.
