1Isis
Panopticon

...a cd that literally grows into you (however that happened)...
2Tool
Lateralus
3Between the Buried and Me
Alaska

While people may argue their post-Alaska work to be better than their earlier
work, I disagree. Alaska is more than just a diamond in the rough.
4Fair To Midland
Fables From A Mayfly

While it could be considered more prog rock than prog metal, Fables is an extremely emotional album that showcases
Darroh Sudderth's amazing vocals. If you listen closely he uses tuvan throat singing techniques on a couple of tracks
5The Ocean
Precambrian

A concept album that tells the story of the earth? I found it really impressive how The Ocean was able to go from
absolute chaos in the first disk to one of the most epic conclusions in the second disk.
6Between the Buried and Me
Colors

Colors was the album that got me really into BTBAM. Though I ranked Alaska higher, it's impossible to overlook a CD
as good as this one.
7Uneven Structure
Februus

I understand that since Djent became a genre, people have been hating on most bands that adopt polyrhythmic chug
patterns. Though I know there IS a large pile of bands that aren't quite able to pull off the style, rhythm, and
cohesiveness, Uneven Structure does with Februus
8Cloudkicker
Beacons

Ben Sharp is a musical genius/madman, his releases get better and better with each listen. His albums are free on his
website so go and check it out...now!
9Animals As Leaders
Animals As Leaders

Tosin Abasi takes instrumental prog for a spin with seven strings being played like I had never heard before. A true
virtuoso, and a true tallent that can't be denied.
10Prisma
Collusion

Tool clone done right. Rocks hard, very hard.
