Devil May Cry 5

After years of rumors and speculation, Devil May Cry returns to its OG universe with DMC5. List is current jams and the series ranked. Trailer: https://youtu.be/KZ9rbZf9x2I

DMC2. Trainwreck of a game. Capcom made the horrible decision of not including the original director, or even any of the team that made DMC1, and brought on a new team that had no understanding of what the original was trying to do. The combat has been super dumbed down, boring and easy, the story is a rehash of the first game which already had a fairly weak story, and Dante has been turned from a snarky, lovable badass into a stoic, quiet, boring edgy guy who flips a coin to make decisions. The best part about this game is Dante’s outfit and some of the enemy and boss designs.

Gardens of Grief

DMC4. This one had major potential to be the best in the series, and does some great things, but falls slightly short. Nero is rad, his Devil Bringer and sword revving mechanics add some great new things to the combat and make him stand out from Dante. The bosses are fun but not quite up to par from the previous game in the series. Dante is now even more fun to play as, since you can change styles on the fly rather than only being able to do it at save points, and the sheer amount of weapons and options he has make him hard to master but also very OP when you do. Unfortunately the game feels unfinished, many levels feel very empty and roughly half the game has you backtracking through the entire path you spent the first half getting to. The story doesn’t have the feels that DMC3 does but it's much better than 1 or 2, with the highest character count of a DMC game so far. Trish is way cooler here than in DMC1 and Dante feels more badass since you’re looking at him from Nero’s

perspective, kind of like Raiden and Snake in MGS2. Nero’s girlfriend Kyrie is lame though and basically had no character. Special edition lets you play as Vergil, Lady and Trish and they all bring new combat styles to the table.
2Adramelech
Pure Blood Doom

DMC1. Despite not being as fleshed out as 3 and 4, the game was probably one of the most difficult and technical hack and slash games when it came out and holds up fairly well. The game has a great atmosphere that is very tense and dreadful, you can definitely tell it started as a Resident Evil entry before they decided to make it a new franchise. Unfortunately the story is pretty lame, and the voice acting is very much early video game voice acting. Dante’s banter with the bosses is entertaining though. This one is about the action and atmosphere.
1Horseback
The Gorgon Tongue

DMC3. Best game in the series. Probably the hardest entry in the series with seriously fleshed out combat. The style change mechanic gives a great amount of variety to the way player’s can deal with enemies, and the leveling system gives you a greater sense of progression as you use a particular style more and more. The story is the best one up to this point with a great dynamic between brothers Dante and Vergil, and Lady is way better than Trish (at least Trish in DMC1) and the chick from DMC2. This one brings the most feels at the end and the overall atmosphere has a great gothic tone. Also has arguably the best bosses in the series, and playing as Vergil in the special edition is awesome despite his levels being a copy and paste job of Dante’s (you even fight Vergil when you play as Vergil, what??). Bloody Palace mode is really fun
