Powerban 08.17.11	interesting choices here for songs. while they're great tracks, i feel there is much better ones worth mentioning on the same albums. for example, we flood empty lakes on enjoy eternal bliss and untited #8 from sigur ros. best post-rock song of the year is between meatman, piano tuner, prostitute and the sleepmakeswaves one mentioned earlier.
Jovis 08.17.11	In response to why certain songs were not put up, I feel that: BBF3 - it's not the best piece out of the two on the LP. Granted, it's a bit slower, more thought-out, and not having the generic post-rock dynamic of Moya, but less successful on an emotional (and therefore personal, I suppose) compared to their other works. Com(?) - it's one of those songs that shows the side of Mono I don't like as much, making heavy for heavys sake, with not much melodic hook. Probably one of the better ones though, having a bit more direction than some songs on the following three albums Jakob - that song from that New Zealand band, or is that the band name? Either way I haven't listened to it/them as much as I should have. Your Hand In Mine/Only Moment We Were Alone - they are both staples in the genre, but like most EitS, 5 years of listening to them has made them wear on me quite a bit, simply because of the minimal(ish) amount of instrumation used, creating similar timbres through-out. I could say the same for Mono, but they've written better songs, and the production is a bit more interesting. What sets The Moon Is Down apart from them is that it's not the stereotypical post-rock dynamic of quiet to loud, but rather little fluctuations of volume, and just less... boring. Untitled 8 - I can't say much more than it just doesn't connect with me as much as the other two listed, maybe it just goes on for too long? Providence "bit" - Well, I prefer where the song picks up after 18 minutes in Sleep, that is the best thing GY!BE has written (personally) We Flood Empty Lakes - I can definitely understand why most people would consider it the best song from the album, it's a very good piece with a couple of moments that make you hold your breath before the band come in in full. The only thing that it doesn't have over Starlit Beaches however, is the melodies presented, which are more uplifting and less generic/pretentious meloncholic post-rock. They are also two very differant songs dynamically, one beings quite loud and in your face, while the other one being softer and endearing you into each instrument. East Hastings - just a bit too negative emotionally to be compared to the positive of much of Lift Yr Skinny Fists.
Jovis 08.17.11	Storm - This is pretty hard to explain, as the whole album is amazing and hard to compare each tracks quality to eachother. Simply put, I feel that Sleep has the least - or none - weaker moments. For it not being on the list, for the sake of objectivity I only put the two songs that I felt were a level above, even for Godspeed, while I feel is what those two songs are and Storm just isn't. It's a song I can't say anything bad about, yet instinctively feel that Sleep and 091500 are better. The rest - haven't heard them, listenened to them frequent enough to make an objective opinion, or have just disregarded them as boring (God Is An Astronaut). Apparently I need to listen to more sleepmakeswaves ;)
