Japan. fuck they've played well, and thrillingly - senegal vs. japan wasn't a game i had etched in my diary or circled on my calendar but was my favourite game of the cup so far, with two dogged and different styles of football clashing in a holy, beautiful mess. i doubt they'll topped Belgium but i wouldn't be, like, shocked or saddened if they did.

Denmark, one of two scandis in the final 16 (r.i.p. iceland gone too soon), are the most conventionally scandanavian of the two, augmenting impenetrable defense with canny counter-attacks. theoretically. honestly i think this game is the referees hands.
