My Favourite Albums I've Discovered In 2011 So Far

In no real order! I started properly getting into indie and electronica, and loads of other music rrI'd never listened to before, in January this year for the first time, as all I'd really listened to rrbefore was rock and rmetal. Some recommendations would be nice, if possible.
15Flying Lotus
Cosmogramma

Another sprawling album, but on a much smaller scale (if that makes sense)
Epic every time.
14Jay-Z
The Blueprint

Just as good as all the hype, what an album.
13Gospel
The Moon Is A Dead World

This album is so strong musically that it even made me... sort of... like the
harsh vocals that I'm normally so averse to.
12Joanna Newsom
Have One On Me

Just like Illinois, crazily ambitious, but in a really different way. A sprawling,
amazing experience.
11Arcade Fire
Funeral

Not much really needs to be said there. I thought they were overrated for
the longest time, even after about five listens of this, but eventually it
clicked, and wow.
10LCD Soundsystem
Sound of Silver

A very good electronica/dance album, with surprisingly incredible lyrics at
points, too.
9 Thomas Dybdahl
That Great October Sound

Lovely folky record from one of the most underrated vocalists of our time.
8The Knife
Silent Shout

One of the eeriest electronica albums ever, but so, so good.
7Miles Davis
Bitches Brew

The polar opposite of the more popular Kind Of Blue, but probably the best
jazz album of all time.
6Sufjan Stevens
Illinois

Probably the most ambitious album I've heard in a while, and also the
biggest triumph of style I've ever heard.
5The National
Boxer

Better than High Violet IMO, and has their best song; Apartment Story.
4Thrice
Vheissu

I'm still not sure if I prefer this to The Alchemy Index, but this is a really
strong post-hardcore album that is incredibly addictive.
3 Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
I See A Darkness

Just a brilliant, emotional record all round. Glad I found it.
2The Tallest Man On Earth
Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird

I love The Wild Hunt more, but this is actually a crazily strong EP, if a little
brief.
1Radiohead
In Rainbows

For some reason I'd never gotten into Radiohead before, but this and Kid A
made me love them immediately. In Rainbows seems to be their best
balance of sounds so far for me.
