| Dubstep Song I Made
I posted a while back about my band and some personal projects
I've been working on. My metal band, Bulwark is releasing an EP
in a month. I'm not going to pigeon hole ourselves (also I literally
don't know what genre we fit into) but I'll be making some
requests in a few weeks for reviews (pm me if interested) and if
anybody has any blogs, I'll be posting a free band camp link when
it's released. Anyways, on an unrelated note I made a dubstep
song with FL studio a few weeks back. I don't like dubstep, but I
thought I'd figure out the basics of FL.(links in comments) List is
recent used CD finds. | 1 | | Rwake Rest | 2 | | Sleep Sleep's Holy Mountain | 3 | | Dj Shadow Endtroducing..... | |

08.24.12 | I don't like it, I'm sorry | Sirob
08.24.12 | definitely not bad for just starting with the software. did you download a set of dubstep sounds or are all of them organic? | Deviant.
08.24.12 | If this was your first use of Fruity Loops then it wasn't bad, but it was still terrible.
Your bass is far too compressed, and your bass loops aren't in time. But like I said, if you're just learning the software then you'll obviously get better. but yeah, you should avoid generic wubs | Mewcopa0
08.24.12 | @Sirob the dubstep sounds were made with Sytrus and 3OsX. I don't know what you mean by "dubstep sounds" I just edited the actions for the cutoff on a fast LP filter and just used a bitcrusher to super compress the bass.
@deviant I'm never making another one haha, but thanks for the input, I've read a lot of your reviews and I'm glad you posted! I wanted to make it generic and cheesy, I'm not a fan of Skrillex, but I wanted to show a friend just how little work Skrillex actually does. The only dubstep I listen to is Burial and Swarms, otherwise I'm an electro newb. P.S. The bassloops are in time, but the subdivisions make it sound like they are not. I edited each action individually so there is no way they are off time, especially because it's all 4/4 | Sirob
08.24.12 | i meant like presets for a plug-in instrument. but i dont use fruity loops so.. | Mewcopa0
08.24.12 | "lol FL Studio"
implying I only use FL. | Mewcopa0
08.24.12 | @Sirob ohhhh, I didn't use presets, I programmed them all on my own | bloc
08.24.12 | What instrument are you playing in that live video? Just curious. | Sirob
08.24.12 | nice. i actually just started using abelton a couple of weeks ago so ive been exploring the software a bit and making sounds too, electronic music is as hard as i imagined | Mewcopa0
08.24.12 | I'm the drummer. Don't worry, I'm not the fat ginger.

08.24.12 | Ableton is miles better than FL. FL is really simplistic, but it has a few feature I use for other music that Ableton can't do. I'd stick with Ableton or Logic though. | Sirob
08.24.12 | fuck logic | TMobotron
08.24.12 | The dubstep track would be twice as good if the kick and snare were more prominent instead of being buried beneath all the synths. |
