teamsters post - "whatever" 2017 list

Narrowing down my favorite post - metal, rock, hardcore, black, punk, death, grunge, etc albums for 2017. I am using Sput as a moderator. I hope you don't mind me sharing....and tell me what I missed.
1Allochiria
Throes

Greek post metal band with female vox and a great sophomore release.
2Amenra
Mass VI

Band can do no wrong.
3Archivist
Construct

Interesting concoction of sub-genres.
4Au-Dessus
End of Chapter

My 2017 AOTY. Go listen.
5Antarktis
Illdaante

In Mourning band members go post.
6Below the Sun
Alien World

The doom metal from their previous release has all but been deleted.
7BOG
Unshriven

A post metal concept album? Yes please.
8Breag Naofa
II

I need to visit the pacific northwest. So much good music.
9Cranial
Dark Towers, Bright Lights

4 songs, 45 minutes. Monolithic.
10Dystopian Future Movies
Time

Atmosphere and aura illuminated by haunting female vox.
11Everything Flows
Aphelion

The texture on this album separates it from the rest of the "same shit different band" stuff.
12Glare Of The Sun
Soil

Austrian post metal with some pinches of doom and melody.
13Gloson
Grimen

Top tier because it actually sounds like post metal I haven't heard yet. Fresh.
14Great Ytene
Locus

This actually did pretty well in the post-punk off competition here at Sput.
15Guantanamo Party Program
III

Poland has the best band name on the list playing noisy but coherent post metal.
16Hubris
Apocryphal Gravity

My 2017 post rock AOTY.
17Ire Wolves
Heirs

Minnesota post metal, ya der hey.
18Impure Wilhelmina
Radiation

Katatonia comparisons surfacing. I can see it.
19L'Effondras
Les Flavescences

Instrumental post metal capped off with a 25 minute masterpiece.
20Lodz
Time Doesn't Heal Anything

The best produced album on the list.
21Lvmen
Mitgefangen Mitgehangen

Biggest surprise. Had no idea they were making new music. Go check their entire discog.
22Bask
Ramble Beyond

Post Americana.
23Mursa
Ectopic

Doom/sludge with incredible vocals.
24November Might Be Fine
South

Poland has become a post powerhouse.
25Our Ceasing Voice
Free Like Tonight

Not for everyone. Good luck.
26Palmer
Surrounding The Void

My grower of the year. Took multiple listens to realize how good this is.
27Process of Guilt
Black Earth

Criminally underrated Portuguese band. Check Faemin too.
28ROSK
Miasma

Heavy and crushing post black.
29Rosetta
Utopioid

More Armine ambience, less Armine screams. Unusual design choice. King Ivory Tower is my SOTY.
30Set and Setting
Reflectionless

Instrumental post metal like Pelican. Silky-smooth atmosphere.
31Show of Bedlam
Transfiguration

More doomy and sludgy but the female vox is the deal maker. Subrosa comes to mind.
32Sleepmakeswaves
Made Of Breath Only

One of the best post rock bands on the planet.
33Sól
Upheaval

More from the pacific northwest.
34Sunrot
Sunnata

Amazing sound from this New Jersey based post metal outfit.
35The Death Of Money
Ghost Pains

Repetitive and droning, I listened to this a ton during the first half of the year.
36The Mute Gods
Tardigrades Will Inherit The Earth

A huge project from this supergroup that's more avantgarde and progressive.
37The Throne
Frail Threads

Hints of crust punk on this dark, short and sweet LP from yep, you guessed it, Poland.
38Tombs
The Grand Annihilation

Mike Hill stripped all the black metal off in favor of an elementary sounding sludgy romp. I like it.
39Ufomammut
8

Masters of the quirky sludge, psyche, stoner scene.
40Viscera
3 | Release Yourself Through Desperate Rituals

Saved one of the best for last. So much going on in the music. Black, sludge, post...a terrific mixture put together so fluidly. Runner up 2017 AOTY.
