Ecnalzen
08.23.20 | OOooo, may have to check some of the ones I haven't heard on here.
I second Atheist, Trioscapes, Exivious, (Reign of) Kindo, and Animals as Leaders. All stuff I would have thrown out if they hadn't already been mentioned. TYS also is amazing.
Aghora - Formless (jazz fusiony metal with lady vocals)
Jizue - Novel (inst post rocky jazz)
Plini - Handmade Cities and/or the trilogy EPs (inst jazz fusiony metal)
Liquid Tension Experiment - Lp 1 and/or 2 (inst jazz fusion) (I prefer LP 2 a little bit but they both have good stuff on them)
John Petrucci - Suspended Animation (inst prog rock/metal) (probs not really jazzy necessarily, but if you dig LTE, you would probably also like this. He throws a bunch of diff stuff at the album and most of it sticks) |
Ecnalzen
08.23.20 | Oh, also:
The Seatbelts - Cowboy Bebop (inst jazz/blues/rock)
All over the place and super fun throughout. Ok, that should do it from me. |
EclipseInYourEyes
08.23.20 | Cykada - Cykada is amazing jazz-rock from the London scene |
Demon of the Fall
08.23.20 | Ah, I have one that may count...
Acoustic Ladyland - Living With A Tiger. Definitely leans more towards jazz, but has vague punk-like leanings. |
Shuyin
08.23.20 | Updated, damn I have enough music for a month or two. You guys are awesome
@Ecnalzen, Yea Cowboy bebop is a must. Great time to rewatch the show as well, it was one of the first animes I watched. I remember it airing here in Portugal along with Trigun and Golden Boy, those were the days |
Ecnalzen
08.24.20 | I still want to watch the show. Listening to the soundtrack was my introduction to it. Also, I thoroughly enjoy Samurai Champloo and I was told the same people were involved with it as Cowboy Bebop, so that is another selling point. One of these days I will sit down and watch it.
Hope you find something to enjoy out of the stuff I threw your way! |
Shuyin
08.24.20 | For sure man, Samurai Champloo may be the most entertaining of the two, Bebop will hit you with harder feels |
theBoneyKing
08.24.20 | Has no one said Talk Talk yet? |

08.24.20 | Neptunian Maximalism - Éons
Jazz Sabbath - s/t

Ecnalzen
08.25.20 | Nice. I got a hold of the series on Blu Ray recently, so hopefully, I will get to watching it soon. Then, maybe, another run with Samurai Champloo for old times sake.
I just started listening to Talk Talk and I think I am in love. Thank you for mentioning it, Boney |
Shuyin
08.27.20 | Late reply, been busy

Shuyin
08.27.20 | A lot of these weren't in the database, all good now |
Ecnalzen
08.28.20 | Damn, you are kind of getting me hyped up for it. I may have to watch sooner than later. I can be a procrastinator when it comes to watching a new (at least to me, anyway) tv show.
I can't remember why, but for a long time when I was younger, I thought The Grateful Dead was like an old school punk band
Glad the internet came along and cleared that up for me |
Shuyin
08.28.20 | Yea, I used to be like that. Whenever I ran into a show that grabbed me I'd binge watch it like a madman. Been a while since I saw an anime that I really like so i stick with the oldies. Bebop is one of those special shows with a world that feels so real and natural, great characters and stories that can be weird but also extremely fascinating. The soundtrack is just the icing on the cake.
Man, I love Spike's voice too

Ecnalzen
08.29.20 | Nice. I am still kind of new to Anime. I watched a fair amount of Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho as a teenager but then didn't really try anything else until early 20s when some friends showed me Afro Samurai and another got me hooked on Samurai Champloo, and it has kind of just developed from there. Got a few others I would like to check out soon, too, but Cowboy Bebop has been my main new series I have wanted to try next.
Also, I kinda can't believe I didn't mention this before, but:
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire and/or The Inner Mounting Flame (inst proggy jazz fusion) |
