11.13.10 | I hate album art. This is the 4th time I've attempted to make this list, but my computer keeps fucking me up. Fuck technology. |
AggravatedYeti
11.13.10 | fuckyes.
if you haven't seen it, check out Gomorrah.
City Of God is another great one too. |
Ovrot
11.13.10 | Get Rich or Die Tryin' is pretty gangster. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | I'll pretend that was sarcasm, Ovrot.
Aggravated: Yeah, I almost put that on here. |
MassiveAttack
11.13.10 | Gomorrah is good Yeti, but not one of the best. City of God owns faces though. Scarface = overrated ugh. Good list though agree with most of it. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Massive, I hope you're not referencing the 1932 Muni flick, but if you are, are you fucking nuts?!?! |
Josh D.
11.13.10 | 1 is obv, Casino is too long. |
thebhoy
11.13.10 | I'm very glad you picked the 1932 Scarface and not the Al Pacino cheesefest.
Gomorrah is one of the best Marko! City of God is really great too, yeah.
Once Upon A Time in America isn't that good really... except for Morricone's score.
Ooooh but Miller's Crossing and Bonnie & Clyde! Me likey this list.
|
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Dude, if you can get past Once Upon a Time in America's length(which it took a while for me), you can see how well put-together and how true the movie really is. |
Ovrot
11.13.10 | Yeah that was sarcasm.
I also say City Of God |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Dude, the "remake" of Scarface with Pacino wasn't that bad, but it was way too over-the-top and lagged way too much at parts. And this is coming from most-likely Pacino's #1 fan. |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | I'm still waiting on Netflix to send me Reservoir Dogs. I freaking love Tim Roth.
Please tell me he plays a major part in the movie. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Ovrot, no offense, but you're not the most intelligent, and that's why I took it seriously. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Well, Maniac apparently didn't read the description. |
acorncheese
11.13.10 | The Untouchables>Goodfellas
I said it. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Okay, someguest, go ahead. Just make sure you do it towards your mother. She's used to smelling garbage. |
ShadowRemains
11.13.10 | list is damn good pit |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | 'Well, Maniac apparently didn't read the description.'
I did, then promptly rebelled against it.
So does Tim Roth get a good part in Reservoir Dogs? |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | I know. Thanks Shadow, but I don't need someone to say that for me to already know |
thebhoy
11.13.10 | nahhh Pacino was the only good thing in the remake (of Scarface) and the pacing is the entire problem of Once Upon a Time in America. |
Ovrot
11.13.10 | Also,
Mou Gaan Dou |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Dude, of course he does. He's Mr. Orange. |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | *giggles like a little girl*
Can't wait to see it.
Have you seen "Deceiver"? |
foreverendeared
11.13.10 | you already know how I feel about Goodfellas.
City of God would be number one for me. It's far and away the best gangster film other than The Godfather |
Ovrot
11.13.10 | 15 is probably my favorite, just because of the top hats and facial hair. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | The one with Roth and Chris Penn? Yeah, it's decent. Nothing truly spectacular to me, anyway. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | someguest-Just do it in your house. It smells and looks like a truck-stop restroom anyway.
Forever- Yeah, I know how you feel about goodfellas. I don't get how you think that way, but it's all good.
City of God almost made as I said earlier. I've only seen it twice, so I'm not sure if I want to put it up in this list or not. |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | "The one with Roth and Chris Penn? Yeah, it's decent. Nothing truly spectacular to me, anyway."
Agreed. Roth completely outclassed the rest of the cast imo. |
MassiveAttack
11.13.10 | I'm talking about the Pacino version. And Gomorrah is good and solid, but I think it drags on; despite all of its harsh realism it begins to get tired for me Yeti. City of God deserves to be on this list, my first viewing I fucking was glued on the screen.
lol my bad dude didn't even notice you put the original on there ugh. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | He usually does, Maniac, except in the Hulk, but that's just because it had Edward Norton in it.
Massive- Yeah, the 1983 "remake" is kind of a joke to me, and I blank it out of my memory when I'm talking about Pacino because I believe it hurts his legacy(at least for me). I'll give City of God another watch this weekend, unless there's some great football game on. Which there probably is, so I'll watch it the second week of February. |
foreverendeared
11.13.10 | "City of God deserves to be on this list, my first viewing I fucking was glued on the screen."
Yeah me too. The character development is brilliant.
"Yeah, I know how you feel about goodfellas. I don't get how you think that way, but it's all good."
To be fair, some of my favorite movie scenes of all time come from that movie |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | "hey that's a bit stereotypical. there isn't THAT many people stopping by for handjobs and stds"
No, but it's the lack of quality and general hygiene that walk in to use your mom as a sperm bank, not the amount of people. |
Counterfeit
11.13.10 | *insert ass kissing comment here* |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | NOW GO GET YA FUCKIN' SHINEBOX! |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | 12!
I'd add King of New York but great fucking list. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | ^Another one that almost made it, along with City of God and True Romance. |
Josh D.
11.13.10 | "NOW GO GET YA FUCKIN' SHINEBOX"
KEEP HIM HERE! |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | Hopper's speech in True Romance is so awesome |
foreverendeared
11.13.10 | Yeah True Romance is really good. Never really thought of it as a gangster film though |
AggravatedYeti
11.13.10 | ohhh forgot about True Romance. |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | There was a biopic came out earlier this year called Mesrine, about a french gangster. Really good film. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | True Romance has that grit-filled filling of those early 90's crime films.
Jewel- You talking about this one?
"Hey. Yeah. And, and your great-great-great-great grandmother fucked a nigger, ho, ho, yeah, and she had a half-nigger kid... now, if that's a fact, tell me, am I lying? 'Cause you, you're part eggplant. "
If anyone reports me for that, you're a fucking pussy. |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | haha yes. Walken's reactions make it even better. |
foreverendeared
11.13.10 | probably the greatest scene ever put on film |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | "goodfellas is not only the best gangster move it's the best movie of all time period"
Agreed. Glad someone else might have an ounce of the immense amount of intelligence I have.
Forever- I didn't see True Romace until I was about 20. It took someone reciting that whole monologue to me(Without my knowledge of it being in a movie) trying to offend me(which he did) for me to finally see t. |
MassiveAttack
11.13.10 | no homo...of course :) |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | I have to admit, I just don't get Goodfellas... |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Nah, chamberd, I've seen it, but I've only seen it twice. I need to see a movie more than a few times to be able to say where I'd put it on any list.
Jewel- What's not to get? |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | I know it's a good film, well structured etc, but I can't stand Liotta and the narration puts me off |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | I can't stand Liotta, neither(except in Something Wild and of course Goodfellas), but it's not so much him that reels me in. Joe Pesci's character is unbelievable, just like Pesci's acting, and the story is so well thought out and put-together to the point to where you can jump in at any point and know exactly what's going on. Scorcese's directing(once again as usual) is fucking fantastic, and while The Departed is the one that got the Oscars for him, Goodfellas is the movie that he will be remembered for, if not Raging Bull. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Just realized 1/4 of this list is made up of Scorcese flicks. This is my favorite genre of film, so I guess that's a good reason why when people ask me who my favorite director is, I always say Scorcese. |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | I might revisit Goodfellas, not seen it since it came out |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Damn, you haven't seen it since 1990? Wow. |
ConsiderPhlebas
11.13.10 | It came out in 1990?? Ok, memory's wrong - I saw it in my late teens, so 1999 ish |
Spec
11.13.10 | Get rich or die tryin'. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Lol, yeah, I thought that was a little weird, considering it's on TV at least 6-7 times a month everywhere. |
pizzamachine
11.13.10 | Eww. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Someone earlier posted "Belly," and then told me he was being serious.
I deleted his posts, and reported him for stupidity. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Yeah, but you can't watch a movie like that on TV. You have to watch it on DVD or on HBO, Cinemax, etc., otherwise, it's a waste of about 3 hours. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | "precious should be on here"
Isn't that the one with the dude from the Blindside? |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | "idk lol i have never seen it"
You have never seen what? The sky behind the actress from Precious, or the movie? |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | I haven't either, Chambered. From the previews, I think it's a movie about an eclipse or something. |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Thanks, Chambered. Glad you like it. |
iamnotchan
11.13.10 | srsly needs City of God
but Gommorah was weak |

11.13.10 | People think I'm insane for listening to the Wu-Tang Clan. |
omnipanzer
11.13.10 | Nice list, love 16 but all are good. |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | "He usually does, Maniac, except in the Hulk, but that's just because it had Edward Norton in it."
As much as I love Edward Norton, that movie sucked. |
iamnotchan
11.13.10 | "People think I'm insane for listening to the Wu-Tang Clan."
what you listen to has nothing to do with it tbh
but you ARE insane |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | It did, Maniac, but no matter what movie Edward Norton's in, he's better than 99.9% of the other people in it |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | The .1% being Tim Roth ;) |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Hoodlum's great, but Lawrence Fishburne kinda annoys me with his quiet "under" acting sometimes. |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | Hoodlum was great, but it dragged a bit |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | BYE-BYE BOSWORTH!

11.13.10 | Tim Roth is always a badass |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | Is Christopher nolan's "following" worth seeing? |
awhiteguy
11.13.10 | Yeah, I saw that movie on an impulse. We used to go to an independent theatre in downtown Ft. Lauderdale to see violent movies they wouldn't show in regular theaters, and that was one of the other 3 movies playing. It's a pretty damn good flick. |
Maniac!
11.13.10 | I'll watch it after I finish "lie to me" ;)
Thanks Nick |

11.14.10 | Once Upon a Time in America is such a great film. Great list, glad to see Mean Streets get a mention. I probably wouldn't have ranked Goodfellas first though.
3 is one of the best fuckin' rap albums ever. |
