Just Forty Of Many

These forty albums remind of him, at various points in our lives. I'm sure I could have come up with more. Some are albums we listened to in his car on the way to school...some are albums we listened to in my car when I would drive him around...others are especially unique and will have a description attached. It's been just over three weeks since his passing, and it feels like it's been longer and shorter all at once. I miss him so much and will always hold Travis in my heart. I will always look up to you, Big Brother.
1Travis Grasmeyer
Aorta

A song Travis wrote more than two years ago. It's absolutely beautiful and I've been listening to it on repeat for days. Can't figure out how to post the song here, but this is a link to my Facebook and the link will be at the top of my timeline. Give it a listen if you've got a couple minutes! http://www.facebook.com/KimmGrasmeyer
2The Offspring
Splinter

Some albums Trav listened to years ago that got me into music...
3P.O.D.
Satellite
4Linkin Park
Meteora
5Linkin Park
Hybrid Theory
6Sum 41
All Killer No Filler

I remember listening to this album with him one summer (years ago) when we were sleeping in the tent in the backyard.
7Jimmy Eat World
Bleed American
8Metallica
...And Justice For All

'One' is one of the songs he loved to play when he first started playing guitar.
9August Burns Red
Messengers

He introduced me to this album, which at one time was a favorite of his. It then became one of my favorites and he eventually didn't care for it anymore.
10Misery Signals
Of Malice and the Magnum Heart

Now he's driving me to school, and this is what we're jamming. 'The Year Summer Ended in June'...'A Victim, A Target'.
11Attack Attack
Someday Came Suddenly
12Architects
Hollow Crown
13Emery
The Question

Still driving to school. Always loved 'Returning the Smile You Have Had From the Start'. "In my memory I wrote you down in ink. I never wanted to erase your story even with the tragedy it brings...I'm not ready for you to die!"
14Emery
The Weak's End

'As Your Voice Fades' "Somebody please tell me, what am I supposed to do? You've died and I'm here, thinking that I hear your voice, but it's somebody else. It's always somebody else. Why did you die?!"
15Four Year Strong
Enemy of the World

Travis showed me this album (still driving to school in his car) and particularly loved 'Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)' and 'One Step at a Time' which now reminds me of him on a much deeper level. "I'll never forget the day that my heart fell from my chest - it was the moment that I said goodbye and I laid your body to rest. I'll never take this life for granted, I'm living it for two. And since you're always the one who sang the songs, I'll be singing this one for you! One step at a time...one foot in front of the other. I'm gonna get through this one way or another. 'cause I know it's warmer where you are, and no matter how far the view, I still always look up to you."
16Daggermouth
Turf Wars
17Misery Signals
Controller

First concert experience for me...I remember walking in and being really excited when I saw Travis there, sitting in a booth.
18Protest The Hero
Kezia

An album we both loved. I remember going to their show and hanging out with Travis and his friends in the smoke pit.
19Protest The Hero
Fortress
20Deftones
White Pony

A few years have passed...Travis is now in my car and I'm driving him around. This and the next few albums are what we like to listen to.
21Opeth
Ghost Reveries

"Haunted nights for halcyon days. Can't sleep to the scraping of his voice."
22Tool
10,000 Days
23Eminem
The Marshall Mathers LP
24Eminem
Recovery
25The Antlers
Hospice
26Brand New
The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
27Anberlin
Cities

(Only if I didn't let HIM pick the music!)
28Death Grips
The Money Store
29 Pink Floyd
Dark Side of The Moon
30Steven Wilson
Grace For Drowning

He introduced me to this album (and the following) and I immediately fell in love with it.
31Fiona Apple
Tidal
32Porcupine Tree
In Absentia
33 DJ Shadow
Endtroducing....

Explained to me that the whole album is comprised of samples.
34Saosin
Saosin

Trav didn't like Saosin, but I listened to the song "You're Not Alone" quite frequently about a year and a half ago, thinking of him.
35 Sigur Ros
Von

Bought this album for him for his birthday in 2011. We were at the record store together and at this point he was still using a walker, so I placed the album on the roof of my car to open his door. Forgot it on the roof...pulled over to see it get run over by cars...needless to say it was no longer in mint condition, but it still played! I plan to frame it and put it on my wall.
36Burial
Untrue

Another album I bought him...one that we both love!
37Fall City Fall
Victus

A band that Travis used to be a member of.
38Downhere
On The Altar of Love

The song 'Rest'. Built off of a promise that Travis felt was not kept in his life. But now I believe it is, and I'm happy for him but I still miss him so much. So much..
39Breaking Benjamin
Dear Agony

When I didn't let Travis pick the music in the car, I quite often played this. I hoped he would listen to the lyrics, because I just never knew what to say to him, and I wanted to say it through two songs - 'Anthem of the Angels' and 'Give Me a Sign'
40August Burns Red
Leveler

I doubt if Travis ever listened to this album since he had long passed his ABR days. But "Cutting the Ties" made me think of him a lot over the last weeks and months before his death. "Silence is a frustrating answer when all you want is a sign It's hard to be surrounded by the ones that you love when the keep passing you by Beneath the tough fa็ade I know that we are getting through None of us are ready to just remember you"
