To help an "OMG you didn't have "insertbandhere" already?" - NO I didn't, music wasn't really listened to until I was almost finished with highschool. |

08.05.12 | Yeah I'm anticipating a lot of older rock/metal and while sometimes I wish I too had started out on a heavier musical diet I turned out somwhat ok in the end I all the same. |

08.05.12 | eminem - marshall mathers LP
blink-182 - enema of the state
My first two albums when I was 8
Before that just jammed my parents music like zeppelin and rush and yes and shit |
Acanthus
08.05.12 | My parent's didn't do music except on the radio (70's Saturday is still a thing here) so that was close to the extent of my knowledge at the time other than what my friends might have playing at their house. |

08.05.12 | Grew up with classics, so no wonder the first couple of albums I got myself was Zeppelin (Compilation, early days), AC/DC (Live 1992), and such. |

08.05.12 | When I was 7-ish my mom bought me blink-182's Enema of State (probably a terrible parenting decision) because I loved the song "All The Small Things", and that was the first actual album I ever loved. Then when I was about 10 my uncle bought me the Yellow Submarine Soundtrack by the Beatles and I got really into that. Then during my freshman year in high school over the span of about three months I bought "Is This It" by The Strokes, "OK Computer" by Radiohead, and "London Calling" by the Clash and those three albums basically shaped my current musical tastes. |

08.06.12 | ^^AFI - All Hallows EP pretty much introduced me to punk, Totalimmortal blew my mind |
YankeeDudel
08.06.12 | Killswitch Engage and the whole early/mid 00s melodic metalcore boom. Unearth, All That Remains, AILD, Shadows Fall, Parkway, A7X. It was a step up in heaviness and quality from Nu Metal. Before that I was mainly just listening to the obvious rock stuff and whatever else was popular. Metalcore eased me more into screaming and shit just not on the radio all day I guess. I realized there was good music outside Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Now metalcore bores me for the most part, but it did its job. |

08.06.12 | AFI came much later for me, still love them though; my dedicated tattoo is still in the works. |

08.06.12 | Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
First rap album I ever bought. |

08.06.12 | @Yankee - I still enjoy the metalcore that was around when I was a 18 or so, really good as a gateway experience. |
Vesper
08.06.12 | I first heard and liked AFI when I was twelve, but StS was when I really started loving them and got me into punk and gothic rock.
They're the only band I still really listen to from when I was that age, haha.

I've never listened to necessarily... normal music. I mean, sure those aren't weird bands really, but they're probably uncommon for a 14 year old to listen to.. haha. |
Cru
08.06.12 | Rush - A Farewell to Kings
Camel - Moonmadness
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
From prog I got into metal:
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast |
Vesper
08.06.12 | @Acanthus - Ah, right, I remember now. I have a huge soft spot for that song, especially as I came up with a really excellent video treatment for it, which, alas, will never see the light of day, haha.
I haven't gotten new ink in a while either, as I've been neglecting it in favor of paying rent. ;P |
Acanthus
08.06.12 | @Vesper - My rent went up sadly, but I work more so it evens out. For me the song recalls a certain ice skating rink and various faces I've not seen in awhile, good times that seem terribly long ago. |

08.06.12 | Linkin Park was definitely the first band I ever REALLY liked. |
JazzHands333
08.06.12 | Good first two albums, I say.
Rock-wise I basically started with the Clash and the Beatles, and only those two bands. Then I heard Gorillaz' debut,
then American Idiot, and then RATM's debut. After those, it all started spiraling out of control. For the best, really. I
discover new stuff all the time now.
I only really discovered hip-hop last year with Odd Future and OutKast, and just indulged from there.

Ignimbrite
08.06.12 | Linkin Park. Meteora and HT were my jams.
Actually, even before LP the first band I really ever got into was Switchfoot (and Newsboys when I was really young but that doesn't count). |

08.06.12 | Dad = a lot of the classic rock I love (60's - 80's). The first album I took a real interest in was Paul Simon - Graceland (I would have been 10ish).
Mom = pop radio
The first album I remember owning was Micheal Jackson's thriller on cassette.
The first album I remember buying was either RHCP - Mother's Milk or Blood Sugar Sex Magik or Nirvana - Nevermind or Bleach. Both bands were extremely popular at the time but RHCP already had a hit with Knock Me Down. I was a huge fan of both and I got all four albums at roughly the same time.
Prior to that I was recording songs off the radio onto my tape deck.
