Yea no. people can't just appreciate the music for what they're doing? i mean i love bm but i'm not an angsty kid who is anti-social and hates society. i find there's some great bm that creates amazing atmospheres. besides most bm artists just put on make-up and spout "evil" messages for sales and don't actually beleive any of it |
BallsToTheWall
06.17.11 | It's raw, hateful music at it's most basic form. If you can't cant connect with it on some emotional kind of level it's like what the fuck are you trying to do, forcing yourself to listen to this.
First time I heard Transylvanian Hunger, well anytime I hear it it makes me want to scream loud and destroy my house. |

love this quote by Famine of Peste Noire
"DC: You've been quoted as saying that black metal is inherently right-wing music. What about relatively recent left-leaning bands like Wolves in the Throne Room, whoPeste Noire are all about environmentalism, feminism, etc.; despite writing black metal in every sonic sense of the word, do you think ideology holds high enough precedent to render these bands something less than black metal? I'm not asking because labels particularly matter, but to hear your take on the ambiguity surrounding this increasingly blurred style, and what defines it.
PN: Ecologism was born in an extreme right-wing context at the beginning of the 20th century as part of the ‘völkish' concept (the inseparable unity between folk and land, a land which should be protected as much as revered) of those who preceded the Nazis and who accompanied them. It is only later on that left-wing groups unjustly monopolized ecologistic positions; ecology is actually an apolitical idea anyway. I myself am actually quite ecological and I adhere fervently to ecofascism. Concerning feminism, one of the things I like the most about Nordic cultures, and specifically euro-pagan matriarchal cultures or societies, is the great respect towards women. A very important part of French mediaeval literature, which, trust me, I know very well, has to do with female supremacy. And it is a fact that the more south you go, the more women are despised, a form of hatred which turns into an obsession in middle-eastern countries. Right-wing misogyny is nothing but the relics of centuries of Christian misogyny which all began in the Bible. Ecology and feminism part of left-wing views? The arguments you bring forth are the same that have driven me towards right-wing views and ethno-nationalism. Now, I have never heard of WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, but if they praise cultural blending, common ownership and equality of all human beings, then no, they have absolutely no right to play BM. They just have the right to make me laugh. " |

06.17.11 | A quote from the same interview:
"When, in the past, I used swastikas or other Nazi symbols, it was exactly for the purpose of symbolism : the symbol for the final and decisive battle against all that is prevalent in today's modern world : the irreversible victory of cross-bred jewmerican liberalism and everything it stands for, i.e. stupidity and the absence of values. Nazism, now more punk than ever, represents the perfect anti-symbol to present-day dominant ideologies (the masochistic human rights movement and cosmopolitan capitalism)."
translated: I'm not a Nazi, bu I'm going to use a swastika because its cool.

purist black metal has absolutely nothing to do with satanism. the church burnings were essentially just an act of rebellion against christianity for showing no respect to nordic culture/beliefs and destroying/converting all their places of worship. quite a few of the musicians behind the Norwegian black metal movement of the early 90s have come forth pretty pissed that the media/copycat band have turned it into this retarded satanic genre. even the earliest bm bands like bathory and celtic frost had fucking nothing to do with that.
that being said, black metal kind of sucks lol.
it's okay man. i feel you. |

06.17.11 | I like Twilight, will check out Ash Borer and Fell Voices. BM like Immortal, Marduk, Emperor (Anthems to... is a great record which I can appreciate, but it's just not for me) or Satyricon make great music, but after one or two songs it just all starts to sound the same to me. When a band mixes another style of music with BM I tend to take it in more easily. So bands like Lantlos, Kvelertak and Twilight i like. |

Quite possibly the stupidest thing I've seen here in months. First of all, what I said was said with 100% sarcasm, and if you couldn't pick up on that then get yourself checked.
Second of all, assuming all extreme music has lyrics about morbid/angry/hateful themes is ignorant and you don't belong on a music website if you think it does |
