09.01.22 | I just finished Spiritfarer and it blew me away |

09.01.22 | Yeah dude. Thing rules. Fallout while in bed is unmatched. It runs pretty loud/hot but it doesn't bother me much. |

09.01.22 | The slight layout difference between it and my xbox controller I use on my PC only took like an hour of getting used to. Also, commenting here has made me boot mine up at my desk at work - responsible AF |

09.01.22 | Yeah some games blow the fan the fuck up. It doesn't help that it's over 100 degrees where I'm at |

09.01.22 | Jealous! I love that handheld PCs are getting more affordable but I'll probably wait until one or two generations further down the line before picking one up. |
Trebor.
09.01.22 | I don't know that it'll get much cheaper. A GPU by itself that's as good as the one in the Deck costs almost the same |
nightbringer
09.01.22 | I'm not necessarily interested in a device with a GPU that ranks as highly compared to its contemporaries as the Steam Deck's. I'm interested to see what other products/companies enter this space, perhaps offering more budget options for those who aren't into the latest AAAs. Something that can run last gen's AAA's and be a good emulation machine with all the general freedom of a PC would be good enough for me.
For the moment, my handheld needs are met by my phone + clip-on controller + emulation + remote play from my Xbox. |

09.01.22 | It's 100% worth it IMO, and I think they're going to pour loads of optimization efforts into it, so I'm excited to see where that leads. If you're wanting to upgrade to a newer iteration (after one eventually comes out), just sell the older one. They're much more limited with formfactor here so I can't imagine that the improvements between iterations will TOTALLY obsolete the previous, so you should be able to recoup some value to move up to the next. I think the used / prev-gen market will be more like the Oculus Quest (which is similarly limited by formfactor) than other consoles. |

09.01.22 | console gaming has always been the most comfortable to me |

09.01.22 | I mean, I also just can't afford to buy it right now lol. And who knows when it would actually arrive =] |

09.01.22 | My reservation was over a year |

09.01.22 | The switch controller is the most uncomfortable thing Nintendo has ever made and they should get a lot more shit for it than they do. Have you ever tried doing the coop with just one side of the controller? It's cool in theory but the size is made for actual infants. |
PitchforkArms
09.01.22 | I mean.... Nintendo is pretty much for infants, anyhow :^) jkjkjk i kid i kid |
ConcubinaryCode
09.01.22 | Theres a reason nintendo is seen as the kid friendly company and it's not unwarranted but the switch actually has a pretty decent library now even though a lot of it is on the other consoles. I'd say it's a decent pick if you want a casual gaming machine that you can take anywhere for cheap (and it definitely shows in the hardware)
Steam deck does look really cool though and the only fault I really here from it is the battery life isn't that great. |
PitchforkArms
09.01.22 | Yeah the battery is only decent, but it charges pretty fast |
Trebor.
09.01.22 | The battery is as good as it can be for how powerful it is
If you play older or indie games the battery lasts a decent amount of time |
