| My Favourite Albums
Attempt number 2... sputnik effed up the previous one *fumes*. Okay, this is my favourite albums list for the end of winter (Australia's winter anyway), and incidentally my first list. My faves changed so much this year, I expect come 2011 it may have greatly changed. | 10 | | Maybeshewill Sing The Word Hope In Four-Part Harmony
I don't know why I like this, I just do!!! | 9 | | Memento Beginnings
No one has probably heard of these guys. Used to be an Australian hard rock band stationed in the USA, had a few hits, then split. Shame, they had talent.. | 8 | | The Butterfly Effect Imago
Many people bash TBE and say they are overrated. For the most part, I'd agree, but Imago is fantastic, particularly the first half of the album. | 7 | | Porcupine Tree In Absentia | 6 | | Tool Lateralus
This took a while to grow on me. Individually the songs aren't amazing but the album in its entirety is great! | 5 | | Karnivool Themata
Great heavy, melodic hard rock with awesome riffs and catchy songs by my fave band. | 4 | | Porcupine Tree Deadwing
Porcupine Trees heaviest album. And I love it! | 3 | | Isis Panopticon
Only recently gotten into Isis. Haven't given Oceanic a full spin yet but Panopticon has blown me away | 2 | | Tool Aenima
Tools finest work IMO, if you exclude the fillers :P. Eulogy and Third Eye are epic | 1 | | Karnivool Sound Awake
This album got me into the whole prog rock scene. Love this album, had it in my CD player for over a year and it still hasn't gotten old!! | |

08.24.10 | Oceanic is better than Panopticon. ITAOT is better than Oceanic. Believe it. | Margatroid
08.24.10 | Porcupine Tree is quite fantastic... I don't like Tool though | PurpleDrank

08.24.10 | get a purple drink too dude | Skybreaker

08.24.10 | I haven't gotten into ALL of 6 or any of 2 yet, but I feel like 6 has some huge individual tracks. | Benwx
08.24.10 | tried neurosis but didn't really dig it first go. whats the best album to start?
Thailand's a great place for that, dude | Benwx
08.24.10 | re no: 6 only real standouts for me are the patient, schism and lateralus. flow of the album is great though especially disposition>reflection>triad. each to their own though :) | PurpleDrank
08.24.10 | through silver in blood | RUGelon204409
08.24.10 | I like the Grudge a lot in addition to those. I've been meaning to pick up 2 for awhile now but
probably need to put it off for just a bit longer, got too much new stuff recently.
You should check out And So I Watch You From Afar for 10. I'd give you recs for the rest except Prog
isn't really my thing, besides mostly what's listed. Except maybe The Mars Volta and Oceansize if
you haven't listened to those yet.
EDIT: Oh and Fair to Midland and definitely Rishloo for Tool | pizzamachine
08.24.10 | Great list | Benwx
08.24.10 | will check it out
the grudge is probs my least fave on the album.. if you listen closely its almost as if they rip off their owns riffs. ill check ASIWYFA out, first listen is good, they do remind me a bit of 10 :). mars volta.. vocals too high for me, and i loooove oceansize. fair to midland are okay (vocals again) and rishloo are great! | AnotherBrick
08.24.10 | i know i give this rec to everyone but you will seriously love them

08.24.10 | Sweet list dude. Lots of great stuff. Glad to see you like Maybeshewill. Check out their other album if you haven't already. And since you liked that album check out 65daysofstatic - We Were Exploding Anyways. It's more sort of electronic post-rock that I'm sure you'll love. | acorncheese
