Vanderbooks

So, for a large portion of my summer, I had no internet or a broken computer, so I used the time to catch up on my reading. List is books I read over the summer and recent digs.
1Sergei Rachmaninoff
Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini

Albert Camus-The Stranger 4/5
2The National
High Violet

J.D.Salinger-The Catcher In The Rye 4/5
First time reading Salinger for me; really enjoyable. How do his other works compare to this?
3The Pogues
Rum, Sodomy & The Lash

Oscar Wilde-The Portrait Of Dorian Grey 4.5/5
4Ghost (Pol)
The Lost Of Mercy

M. Bulgakov-Master and Margarita 5/5
Satirical novel about Satan visiting the USSR in the mid-1900's. Probably my personal favorite book. A rather firm grasp of Soviet culture is needed to understand it, though, and most of the English translations that I've seen were rather poor.
5 Keith Jarrett
The K?ln Concert

F.Scott Fitzgerald-The Great Gatsby 5/5
Fitzgerald's writing is absolutely perfect.
6Disma
The Vault of Membros (Demo)

Sophocles-Oedipus Rex 3.5/5
7Modest Mussorgsky
A Night on the Bare Mountain

Sophocles-Antigone 4/5
8Roy Harper
Stormcock

Ray Bradbury-Fahrenheit 451 3-3.5/5
Honestly, I can't help feeling a bit disappointed with this; I expected a bit more.
9Igor Stravinsky
Le Sacre du printemps

H.G. Wells-War Of The Worlds 3/5
Read this two years ago, reread it this week. Fun book.
10Nokturnal Mortum
The Voice of Steel

H.G. Wells-The Time Machine 4/5
Best thing Wells ever wrote, by a fair margin.
11Anatoly Liadov
The Enchanted Lake Op. 62

F. Dostoevsky-Crime And Punishment 4.5/5
12 Original Broadway Cast
Les Miserables

Victor Hugo-Les Miserables
Reading this partly to improve my French, and partly because I've heard so many good things about the book. I'm still only a third of the way through, but it's very enjoyable so far.
13Alcest
Le Secret

A. Solzenhitsin-One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich 3.5/5
A lot of Solzenhitsin's sentences are rather awkwardly and strangely organized, but his writing here is, on the whole, enjoyable. As a political commentary, this works very well.
14 Frank Sinatra
Songs For Swinging Lovers
15Ludwig van Beethoven
Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13
