05.30.13 | There's dozens of songs I'd say have that affect on me, but right now I'd say the "TKOL" track from the Radiohead remix series is one I've become seriously obsessed with. Andy, I know you've heard this, and the part that I'd say really captivates me is at around 4:10 when you can hear the high-pithed "don't hurt me" from "Give Up The Ghost". Then the piano from "Codex", the chirping bird samples, and echoey soundscapes all start mingling in the background. It gives off a really hypnotic vibe that I truly love.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoeB82x5yrc
About 2:25
When the bass comes softly rumbling in, building in volume til it fuzzles over your ears as the vocal sample echoes. Makes a depressing track even more unsettling.
The Weeknd - High For This
1:21
When the song drops and the percussion & bass kick in
The National - Afraid of Everyone
2:56
Faunts - M4 Part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcrDWAuyqtc
So many moments in this song I don't know where to start.
I get chills when the song opens up with its synths and percussion. At 0:16 the guitar leads kick in, more chills. At 0:32 the vocals kick in, more chills. At 0:49 the hi hat kicks in. At 1:04 the song picks up speed, more chills. The guitar slides in the background at 1:26, more chills. At 2:32 the verse ends, the pace draws suddenly to a halt and that gentle chorus comes in. Fucking hell. And the song's fucking over 8 minutes long and it's like that for the whole time. Favourite song of all time.
I could go on. The Cold Part by Modest Mouse has a ton of moments like that. All the way through godspeed's music too. |

06.01.13 | Burial - Loner
when it fades out at the end, after six minutes of surging, thumping urgency littered with ethereal voices and chopped up samples of crowds cheering, as if they were encouraging observers of some virtuous deed of yours, your moment of victory
the daydream breaks, and a single, clear voice - backed by chilling, sombre keys - cuts through to bring you back to reality

06.10.13 | the whole song pretty much is, lets be honest
but that section if you include the where are you doing up until the fadeout is the best piece of ambient music ever |

06.10.13 | I still hear "where are we going" when I listen to that. I think I prefer that actually.

06.10.13 | The crackling and instrumentation as well. Everything feels separate and distant, as if the pieces of music have been recovered from the edges of being completely lost and then brought together.
