Hobo Rocket
While 2012's excellent Beard, Wives, Denim was very much dominated by refined, poppy song writing, Hobo Rocket is a much more adventurous affair and is all the better for it. The intense "Aloneaflameaflower" features some of the band's heaviest moments to date while album closer "Midnight Mass" finishes with a beautifully transcendent instrumental section which provides a strong contrast to the dark, almost Sabbath-esque sound of the song's first half. | | 3 |  | Raum

The Event of Your Leaving is a collaboration between Liz Harris (aka Grouper) and Jefre Cantu Ledesma, which sees the duo deliver carefully crafted ambient soundscapes inspired by the work of visual artist Vija Celmins. 12.23.13 | @Rogue: Similar to 40? Erm a lot of the other psych albums I've listened to from this year have been instrumental barring a few exceptions (4, 8 and 42). I think you'd like 4, even though it's not that similar to Fuzz per se. Some of the songs on 42 have a somewhat similar vibe to Fuzz, particularly Lolita so maybe check that out too. | BigPleb

As for the instrumental ones check out 6 and 25. The reason I ignored the instrumental ones in my previous comment is because they're not exactly comparable to Fuzz as they're not really song-based like 40 is. | KILL

For some reason I've never been that into MBV (or shoegaze in general), I listened to a few songs from their new one and it sounded decent but I didn't feel compelled to check out the whole album. The new Sabbath album is decent but nothing more than a 3 for me. I haven't heard the new Darkthrone, apart from their really early stuff I'm not the biggest fan of them. I haven't got around to hearing the new FW album in its entirety but what I did hear of it didn't exactly blow me away. | JamieTwort
