It's a psych rock band called Ultimate Spinach (dumb name, I know). I'm pretty sure you would dig this as much as I did.

JamieTwort
07.30.13 | That Ultimate Spinach song was great. Definitely gonna check out the whole album at some point. |
Nagrarok
07.30.13 | It keeps surprising me how many of these lesser-known albums you're familiar with Jamie. Would be interested in checking out a few, if I had extra time on my hands. |
JamieTwort
07.30.13 | Yeah I tend to go through stages where I find a lot of new (to me) music and quite often it's stuff that isn't that well-known. That's not to say that all of the stuff on these lists are recent discoveries though, each one tends to have some older favourites as well as some more recently discovered stuff. |
Hawks
07.30.13 | I need to hear 6 hard. |

Ecnalzen
07.31.13 | Damn, 7 sounds cool too. Didn't know anyone had tried putting jazz and rock together. |
JamieTwort
08.01.13 | Jazz-rock is a fairly common term actually, it generally refers to jazz fusion that leans more towards rock than jazz. |
Ecnalzen
08.01.13 | Ah, did not know that. I just recently found some jazz that I don't think sucks, so I finally have become interested in the genre. I will have to start looking into some jazz fusion then. |
JamieTwort
08.01.13 | Jazz fusion is one of my favourite genres, let me know if you want anymore fusion recs. |

08.04.13 | Hey Jamie, so thanks to this list I've been getting into Terje Rypdal this past week. What else have you heard by him? |
JamieTwort
08.04.13 | Hey man, glad to hear you've checked out Rypdal. I've heard two George Russell albums he played on, Electronic Sonata for Souls Loved by Nature and Trip to Pillaguri both of which are great, although Rypdal's guitat isn't as much to the forefront as it is on his solo stuff. His first solo album, Bleak House is also really good from what I've heard. |
JamieTwort
08.04.13 | Oh and I've also heard The Sea by Ketil Bjornstad which Rypdal played on and that's really good. It has a similar feel to Odyssey. |
sumyunguy
08.04.13 | Yeah, I've kind of been working through his early discography and unfortunately I'm not much of an ambient guy, and he seems to have a ton of ambient stuff. I've been able to pick out about a dozen more meaty tracks, which are rather amazing. When he decides to actually tear it up, he's pretty remarkable, but unfortunately he seems to be hell-bent on making album after album of Nordic "soundscapes." |
JamieTwort
08.04.13 | Personally I'm a big fan of his ambient stuff but I know what you mean. The George Russell albums are more jazzy and less
ambient/atmospheric so you might like those. Have you heard #4 on this list? Rypdal plays on that album (don't know if you
saw my comment in this thread saying that), he tears it up on the song Champagne Of Course. |
