Mass Effect And Dragon Age

Not about music
1Dragon Age: Origins

Only a few hours in, and I already like this a lot more than Mass Effect. It's got a great balance between seriousness of the plot, humor, great and 'real' feeling characters and in about an hour I was more immersed in the game and playing with my dog than in any moment in Mass Effect. Im playing on 360, so the combat system is a bit dated but the fact that you can play as any party member allows for so much variation in gameplay. The game and characters feel real, and while its definitely not the most original RPG ever the customization is deep and organized, and even thought the combat is pretty standard it's fluid and it works perfectly. Likin this one.
2Mass Effect

I enjoyed it at first, but after 15 hours I can definitely say it's not worth the hype. First off, John Sheppard (no matter how you play him, stfu) is a stale, boring, unemotional character with no individuality whatsoever. He's the worst protagonist I've ever seen in a game, and for me it's hard to have a supposed engrossing RPG when your character's bland voice takes away from being your own character. The universe itself is kinda cool, but that wow factor got old quickly with poorly layed out planets and map designs. The conversations are as fun and as engaging as those in DOA in a way, except for the fact that this game seems a bit stale and emotionless, lacking the 'real' feel DOA has. Mass Effect's universe is cool and all, but a bit plastic. I'm all for nerdy scifi when theres depth and emotion behind it, but after over 15 hours of gameplay, awfully arranged inventory, bland characters, a shitty main character and horrible lag during every fight (and the fact that that running thing you do in combat is out of fucking control) the originality and cinematic feel of the game wasn't enough to overtake how fake and boring it was.
