Glorified Albums Which Do Not Deserve the Praise They Receive

cuz you know its true...
1Nirvana
Nevermind

most overrated album of the 90s. brings nothing really groundbreaking at all. many fail to realize that pearl jam had already done what nirvana claimed to have brought to music at the time. in utero is a far superior piece of music anyways.
2.5
2The Beatles
The Beatles

either this or sgt peppers, but this one sucks slightly more. this album is just far too bloated for its own good. perhaps the problem most double albums seem to face. but its really on the lower end of the beatles releases in terms of quality.
3.5
3Circle Takes the Square
As the Roots Undo

deal with it... yah srry sea
2.0 (wont let me rate lower)
4The Flaming Lips
Embryonic

not a bad album by any means. just a tad bit overrated, as i can easily name 10 albums that were better contenders for album of the year, let alone better than this.
3.5
5Radiohead
Kid A

bleep bleep bloop blop bleep. where the fuck is the guitar!?!? but srsly its an ambitious piece for radiohead and i respect them for going in a completely different direction. while it is very orginal and it fails to surpass previous works and leaves much more to be desired.
3.5
6 Guns N' Roses
Appetite for Destruction

axl sucks. most people would agree anyways. and this album is decent for a time. although once you decide to really look into it, it is extremely shallow and not so great.
3.0
7The Mars Volta
Frances the Mute

the definition of pretentious prog..... and just for you enotron. while it is true the follow-up to de-loused is a much more progressive peice of music, it fails to capture the essense which made de-loused a masterpiece it was claimed to be (maybe on that statement). while progressive can have superb moments of musical mastery, this album just indulges in the extreme of the genre, and with the sort of mastery that was apparent in de-loused, and the genre, we all know the band was capable of much more worthy follow-up.
2.5
8Korn
Korn

nu-metal just kinda sucks, as does korn... but many claim that this album helped save the declining of rock at the time, when really it was an acceptable release at the time ,and muscial tastes were already shifting elsewhere (not for the better of course). really it should just be a bit lower in rating.
2.0
9Muse
Black Holes and Revelations

the start of their decline. definitely an acceptable release for muse, but it was apparent that they had started to lose much of their creativity. so decent for the time being, but we all know what became of the later release.
3.5
10Neutral Milk Hotel
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

mehhhh... the ultimate grower. not really.
2.5
11Rage Against the Machine
Rage Against the Machine

its alright.... i guess. another original idea, but at times can get self-indulgent (tom) and unneccesarily repetive (zach)
3.5
12Weezer
The Blue Album

good, not great. nothing bad about this, just again not the ultimate pop/emo release or however many people seem to describe it, even though i dont see it as being emo really.
3.5
13Red Hot Chili Peppers
Blood Sugar Sex Magik

this is alright, but not the best thing ever like most people make it out to be. they released better material afterwards. this one is just ever so slightly overrated.
4.0
14Tool
Aenima

yeah tool on this list... so original
3.5
15Van Halen
Van Halen

RUNNIN' WITH THE DEVIL!!!!!
3.0
16Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada

lol jk this is like the best ep ever. if you dont like it then you fail at music and you dont have the capacity to appreciate anything musically complex.
5.5
17The xx
xx

album sucks
2.0
18Rise Against
Siren Song of the Counter Culture

album isnt that great. has some decent stuff. lots of generic stuff though. the release afterwards improved immensely on this piece of work, but still many claim that this is their best. its a shame.
3.0
19The Smashing Pumpkins
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

lots of great songs, but just as many not so good ones. i mean some of the pumpkins best songs are on this release, its just that many fail to take into account the other songs which fail to live up to claims, and only speak of the greater songs.
3.5
20Ozzy Osbourne
Blizzard of Ozz

ozzy sucks. this album is barely decent. its really pretty average tbh. it is nothing special when compared to his work in black sabbath. but it shows his last bit of artistic talent (or what was left of it), although everything he made after has lacked anyways. he shouldve stopped after this album or realized that he was out of ideas when he released diary of a madman.
