Year 2014.5 in Omaha

i could always provide an extensive list of every album i've listened to this year, but why bother? those aren't the albums that matter in the end. here are the albums that mean the most to me this year, so take what you will from it. lurve yew guys
10Thee Silver Mount Zion
Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything

one of those albums that pulls you right in. i still haven't given this its proper time of day but it'll have its moment
9Cloud Nothings
Here And Nowhere Else

for memories with dear friends
Melting Sun

7Icarus the Owl
Icarus the Owl

lovely, lovely dudes with the funnest grooves and melodies around
6Every Time I Die
From Parts Unknown

this album has steadily gone from 'it's cool but doesn't feel like an ETID album' to 'okay i need to keep listening to this' to album at maximum volume in car to heightened tinnitus to probably death
5Animals as Leaders
The Joy Of Motion

because ultimately, i am who i am
To Be Kind

finally checked out Swans this year, and this album hit me from the get-go. don't be intimidated with the band's discog like I was- just spin Oxygen and you'll be hooked
3Death Grips
The Powers That B - Part I: Niggas on the Moon

bjork-addled bliss
2Closure in Moscow
Pink Lemonade

a delightfully overblown prog record with near-infinite replay value

brilliant production, phenomenal lyricism and all-around an endlessly satisfying record
