Ethics 01.09.13	Almost died in the hospital twice, not trying to be dramatic or anything.. but it was pretty cool/life changing. School was pissing me off and I didn't have a major in mind so I dropped out, got a job, got a car, started really pursuing music/meeting a lot of new people, and eating way healthier.
RetroSpective 01.09.13	Things are working pretty well for me right now. Better than the past couple years or so that's for sure. Happiness wise I'd say like a 6/10

Winrar 01.09.13	I'm content atm. Been depressed for over a year but i'm managing to fight it well. Money means quite a lot to me, i mean, i'm quite a materialistic person but i do value family and friends over money any day.

pwalcher 01.09.13	Learning how to exercise "well", and seeing some results. I can run longer and I feel so much better. That and music are really the only things I find happiness in these days. Would like to meet a girl, but every time I meet one I'm always more nervous and stressed out than when I didn't meet them lol
Ethics 01.09.13	Just pretty much doing whatever I want rules. Reading more books, watching more movies, chilling with friends whenever time permits. Plus at my job I can listen to music whenever so I'm pretty much set for 8+ hours. Just saving up now so I can move out of my parents house (just turned 19).

Omaha 01.09.13	What things are you materialistic about, Winrar? We all have our areas in that regard. I spend more than I could on videogames, clothes, and technology.
pmmets07 01.09.13	idk just generally don't get a lot of enjoyment out of anything. waking up, leaving the house, exercising has all become a chore. which sucks because i had always been pretty active and self-motivated until this year. i just have so much less life in me than i did even just a few years ago. but i think i'm ready to make some changes because i really can't keep thinking the way i am and expect to be happy.
Omaha 01.09.13	Pwalcher, I know what you mean. There's something inherently satisfying about running - I ran some today, and felt like I'd conquered the world. Do you run long distance? Ethics, yeah, reading books definitely makes me very happy =] currently working through Atlas Shrugged and HELL YES DEV!
Xenophanes 01.09.13	Mleh. About to graduate to an uncertain future full of student loan debt. My family has been going through some shit. Overall I'm pretty peppy though. I've got some cool friends and there's a guy I've been talking to and that's kinda good. This semester is going to be rad as fuck too. 3.5/5 happiness.
Owantjaaaa 01.09.13	I'm not really happy at the moment. Maybe it's because my grandma is dying of cancer and my grandpa has problems with his heart. That or my job at the supermarkrt
Omaha 01.09.13	Yeah man, find a way to switch things up. Maybe try a different exercise routine, or go for a little roadtrip if you can afford it. Another thing that I always love is meeting new people

Winrar 01.09.13	What things are you materialistic about, Winrar? I've been quite a shut-in recently. I've been spending money on trying to pimp out my room as much as possible because i tend to spend lots of time there. I bought new furniture, upgraded my computer and purchased framed paintings. I find that im much happier being this way than when i was much more social. I mean, i used to be a very social person, going out and partying and all but that brought more problems for me than how i am now. I know i should change my lifestyle but right now im happy.

pwalcher 01.09.13	@Omaha: I'm currently in this struggle to go from 5 to 10 km. I have a job though that has me work some annoying hours sometimes, so less time for super long runs. But I've been working on running 5k in less time and consistently get it under 18 mins which ain't bad considering I haven't done it long. You?
Wolfhorde 01.09.13	Pursuing a career is way more than "just money" for me. It's personal progress, it's the striving for constant personal progress in any way possible as an academic career not only supports but actually demands that you're always up to date. If you're not you might be slipping. Plus, I don't think going for whatever my mood tells me to at any moment is the "best way" to go for it. If it'd make me happy just to tell my surroundings to go fuck off, tell a large portion of my classes to grow the fuck up or just bitchslap someone for being a complete idiot then I'm most likely not going to do that because I'd shoot myself in the foot. In case of "doing the stuff you love" that might be different. Although you can't just abandon any responsibility for that without severe consequences either.

Omaha 01.09.13	Staying in and enjoying life that way isn't always a bad thing. My girlfriend's interested in interior design, which consists of exactly what you mentioned haha. She isn't a materialistic person, though; it's just an interest of hers. They can be very separate things

Wolfhorde 01.09.13	Materialism per se is not a bad thing, thinking that getting XY - also including persons - and then your life would be happy, perfect & paradise is. And well, ya never know - especially if not elaborated further or more explicitly but yeah I agree you can definitely be happy with your hobbies/interests.

SeaAnemone 01.09.13	I'm very content with everything at the moment. Just spent a few days on a skiing vacation with my wonderful girlfriend of 4 years, had a great winter break chilling/celebrating new years/going to atlantic city for a weekend and about to head back to my senior year of college which has been the best year so far with some sweet roommates whilst choosing which law school to go to in the fall because I have some fantastic offers and that's pretty exciting.
Omaha 01.09.13	Agreed. I just see way too many unhappy rich people in these parts, haha. I was raised in the 7th richest town in the U.S., and when you're around all of it, yeah, the region itself is very nice, but I just notice how I'm happier than most people around me and it's surprising.
Omaha 01.09.13	That's awesome, Sea! It sounds you have your cards stacked for a great semester. 4 years is impressive, too. I've been with my gf for 10 months or so, but I know it'll end up being much longer.
spillingmercury 01.09.13	I'm in the transitional period between high school and college. So yeah. hahaha. Lots of things I don't want to confront that I have to confront, lots of indulgences I have to rethink and prioritize better. It could be worse, but I guess I'm just a little stressed out is all.
Ethics 01.09.13	I have Crohn's Disease, Omaha. My doctor and I thought I was pretty much fine for the longest time, so I stopped taking my medication since it has terrible side effects. Turns out that my ulcers grew to some really terrible sizes and I couldn't properly digest food when they flared up. Felt like someone was ripping out my intestines or stabbing them with a knife, burning them and then dropping an eighteen wheeler on them. Was stuck in the hospital with a shit load of morphine for a good month and a half. Couldn't move for two weeks. Was pretty much pissing on myself for two days. Luckily I didn't have to shit because the doctor's permitted me from eating for a whole month. Eventually had to have surgery to remove the ulcers in my stomach. Was pretty lonely for the most part but I didn't mind it at all. I'm not really the type that will sympathize for myself. Just said when I get out I'm going to start doing what I want, and it's been working.
WeepingBanana 01.09.13	not gonna answer your first question Money isn't all that important to me. I have no plans to have an extravagant house and a nice car or anything. I mean more money would be nice, but I'd rather make less money doing something I love than more money doing something that crushes my soul. Also, I'd rather spend my money doing cool things (concerts, traveling, playing music) rather than having cool things.
SgtPepper 01.09.13	There have been some loses within my family, it's been rough but overall I'd say I'm happy. School is going good, I have my health and friends are always around for whatever. Money has never really been a problem and my world still seems to move along fine. I had a really great girl for a while as well, but she dumped me this week. Though I didn't really mind that as the relationship was growing painfully stale. I do have my eyes on this one girl (or at least her ass anyway) from my Literature class. She's older than me though, like 25 and WAY out of my league. So yeah, that's me.

Winrar 01.09.13	I think the real reason for my shut-in behavior is due to my hatred towards most of my friends. I met most of them in highschool, but over time we matured and grew further apart. I stopped caring about what was socially normal and just focused on doing stuff i liked. Most of my friends still have that stupid highschool bitch mentality and all they care about is fucking girls, getting big and trying to be as bland as possible. I mean, they dress and listen to music of whatever popular at the time. They all share the fucking same interests that are deemed 'normal' and it pisses me off because they treat me like a stranger when i'm around them in public. This may sound like a rant, but its a justification towards my shut-in behaviour. I'd rather stay inside my room all day than go out partying with dickheads who only care about getting drunk and hooking up with random sluts.
Ignimbrite 01.09.13	I'm at college and compared to high school I'm having the time of my life. I've made some amazing friends and my family is as awesome as always so I really don't have a lot to complain about at the moment. I will admit that I haven't had a girlfriend in a long time and that I'm kind of feeling shitty in that arena, but I'm happy overall.

You deserve to go and do what you want, man. Agreed, WeepingBanana. I eat at IHOP with my girlfriend every weekend and we have an amazing time - it's often about the simpler pleasures. Just make sure she digs jazz, and she'll be fine with your car's sex soundtracks right? Winrar - I understand that feeling. Do you live around a decent amount of other people? I'd suggest trying to find new people to spend time with, people that restore your faith in humanity. ;] And Ignim, it's a great thing to have a girlfriend but if you're a good guy, you shouldn't fret about it. Just meet as many as you can, and you'll have all the more options =]

Omaha 01.09.13	Ethics, I'd give myself a 7.5 out of 10 right now. I have the capacity to be insanely happy; I just have motivational problems sometimes. I know exercise makes me happy, but after hanging out with less active friends for years it can get hard to tell yourself to go work out. Things like that. Inadequate motivation for school, too, but it's just because I don't plan things out well. My relationship with my girlfriend is great, and my friends keep me stable.

Omaha 01.09.13	Very true, man. It's something I subconsciously do, and when I realize it I reprioritize immediately. There are ways around what I mentioned earlier, though. While I already work out a decent amount, I'd do so even more if I make friends with others with similar interests. I've always had a problem with being affected by others, to be honest. It typically happens when I'm in a bad mood, but when I'm surrounded by downers I become the biggest downer of them all. It's dependent on how my life's been going - if I've been achieving what I've been wanting to achieve, etc. - if not, other people get to me too much

Jash 01.09.13	Over the past 5 months or so I've become very self aware and have learned a lot about myself and about life, I finally feel like I'm getting to where I want to be on many levels of my life so it's making it easier for me to step back and start to change the things I'm not that fond of. Musically I'm very happy these days, I've grown so much this last year and I've started to settle into the sound I love to make. My production skills have also skyrocketed and I'm pretty proud of that. I'm headed to Europe this summer for Outlook Festival in Croatia and hopefully moving into the big city (Vancouver) this time next year to take Audio Engineering, so all in all I'm a pretty happy guy these days

I think one should strive for long term happiness and imo that can only be achieved through love. I do believe there aren't many people who've found that, thinking too quick they should settle and ending up getting divorced after some years.

Finally got the balls to quit what I was doing in college and took something that I have always wanted to do although that meant putting myself back 3 years but I am sure they will be worth it in the long run. I am seeing a special lady and things are going well at the moment. Having some serious family issue though but I guess I have never really been one to let bad things happening in my life to bring me down.

Blackbelt54 01.09.13	i'm content with my life and i think happiness is more of a mindset than anything else i mean you can't be happy off dopamine all the time but you can be positive and logical about things. i also think sometimes being unhappy or discontent is a good thing because it drives you to improve. also i think when people complain about how they're missing something in life i think that can sometimes be fixed by being happy with what you have instead of focusing on what you don't have
