10.30.12 | I found Death Note to be brilliant for the first 2 thirds and then absolute crap for the final third. Kind of ruined it for me.
Second the Gungrave rec. Awesome show. Sword Art Online is pretty bad... there's been tons of better shows in the past 10 years. like:
Phantom: Requiem of the Phantom (in the vein of Gungrave. Mafia action/mystery with amazing characters)
Mirai Nikki (Fun, over the top action show with probably one of the best antihero characters of all time)
Shiki (Horror/mystery with a great twist on some classic monsters)
Trigun (surpised not to see this on here. Fun action/adventure and the only show where I prefer the English dub over the sub)
Ergo Proxy (drama/psychological/mystery with some great animation and dark atmosphere)
Gankutusuou (an adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo with the most interesting and experimental art style I've ever seen)
Bakemonogatari (anime's equivalent of ultra-hipster indie music. But come on, you're on Sputnik. Incredibly artsy and dialogue-heavy, but I think it's brilliant)

No, not it won't. Not FMA:B, which is largely considered to be the best shounen bar, well, none. It's fantastic... the only anime I could see being "better" than Cowboy Bebop. But it's not. I think I enjoyed FMA:B more, but Bebop is written like literature (with a central theme that drives the story forward) whereas FMA:B is something like Harry Potter. |
