Regulars and new contestants alike are welcome! Phoenix

March 1st - Dylan620
"Black Canyon"
I'll start with my SOTY so far. "Black Canyon" tells the tale of a broken-hearted man who commits suicide by setting foot on a freeway and allowing an 18-wheeler to hit him at full force, and the first responders who interact with the man and try in vain to save him.

The Visitors

March 8th - Trifolium
"The Visitors"
The “Visitors” reportedly represent the various state police in communist countries at the time of writing. Wikipedia: ''The official stated theme is a protest against the mistreatment of political dissidents in the Soviet Union at the time, as ABBA seemed to put political issues into their lyrics in the final days of the group. Ulvaeus has stated that at the time of release he preferred that the song should have a sense of mystery so did not explain the exact meaning.''

This song serves as a recap of all of the characters in The Hold Steady's previous album. The bridge will forever send shivers down my spine.

March 13th - JohnnyoftheWell
"Izon-Shou / I Am An Addict"
From what I can gather from (appalling) translations, this is about infatuation and longing in a relationship, but honestly it's one of those larger-than-life closers that feels like an emotional journey regardless and needs to be heard at full blast.

March 18th - SlothcoreSam
"Stillwave" (feat. Chris Farren)
This song is set in apocalyptic end times, due to someone discovering "the page at the end of the Internet", which you hear in earlier songs, and the writer trying to escape to the safe-haven of Disney Land. It starts off reflecting on humanity and observing their reactions to their final days, before reaching the gates of Disney. This is where Chris Farren steps in, to explain what is going on there.

The whole album is one big story, but this song alone is a stand out and well worth your time.

I've been on a J-rock binge lately and I love revisiting artists that I already rec'd. This one is much less progressive and more mainstream rock than their last song.
