I've been diagnosed with CLM ...

COMPULSIVE LIST MAKING. List is recent digs.
1The Spirit Of Iuvenium
Bequeath Thy Grievous Loss

I can only assume any release that beginnings with "The Spirit" will be a banger (even if it ambient). This hasn't been fully released yet but the available tracks a very nice.
2Korpsånd
An Introduction to the New Wave of DKBM

A compilation of Danish black metal bands ... it is raw, ugly, and everything I personally look for in BM these days.
3Extremity
Coffin Birth

A student of the new school of old-school death metal that doesn't take it self super seriously. Fun and gory death metal.
4Dire Omen
Formless Fire Embodied

Dark Descent has really converted me over the last few years, and releases like Formless Fire Embodied are the reason why. A cleaner take on miasmatic death metal a la Portal that doesn't feel bare w/o the filth. It's a compelling listen for sure.
5Tyrannus
Serpentslayer

As a relatively new convert to dungeon synth, Tyrannus's effort last year 'The Warden' helped me dip my toes in the pools of 400yr old castle moats, even if it was a bit noisier than most. Serpentslayer is a much more traditional DS release and even though it's repetition borders on the line of tediousness sometimes it's an absorbing listen with a great sense of medieval melody.
6Bookakee
Ignominies

I don't usually spring for stuff like this, but Ignominies is a lot of fun. Impossibly technical technical death metal with a flair for the melodic. The vocals kind of bug me, but overall it's a very decent release.
