Incredibly Consistent Artists

Was chilling on the lawn at my uni yesterday listening to do make say think, enjoying the sun, eating food and just being really fucking comfortable when it struck me how good everything dmst has released is. not one hiccup to be found in their discography. i mean sure there are weaker albums, but nothing BAD. got me thinking what other bands could make similar claims, i.e. a huge percentage of their material being good. Anyone want to make suggestions would be cool. I only listed people whose discographies i've covered virtually completely
1Black Sabbath (Ozzy)

The black sabbath that had Ozzy Osbourne had one of the greatest runs in metal history, churning out classic album after classic album, finishing with Sabotage. Even the weakest of the six albums in that run, Vol. 4, is awesome. Some bands don't even MAKE 6 albums and Sabbath was good enough to produce six out of six. I mean yeah they had two mediocre to good ones follow those six but come onnnn
2Converge

Every LP by them is good, even No Heroes. What keeps their albums interesting is the differences between them all. You have the incredibly grindy No Heroes, the more metalcore Axe To Fall etc etc. Keeps me interested anyways.
3The Cure

Everything they did from their debut to Wish ruled, especially the mind-bendingly fantastic Disintegration and Pornography. they had one mediocre album then made bloodflowers which was great. then they released two more slightly above average albums. but shit dude.
4Darkthrone

Debut was a solid death metal album, next three were genre (or second wave) defining albums, followed by a great album, a shit album, some more slightly above average black metal, then slew of great punky crusty black metal releases, this direction ultimately leading to a truly fantastic album: The Cult is Alive. Their latest even throws speed metal into the mix and it STILL rules. fuck.
5Death

Symbolic, Sound of Perseverance, Human and Individual Thought Patterns. You could take away two of their best albums and they'd still have two or three death metal classics in their discography. nothing theyve released is bad. nothing they've released is even below great.
6Dirty Three

anything assosciated with Warren Ellis rules. this is led by Warrin Ellis. listen to anything by these guys and i guarantee it'll be better than any post rock youll listen to unless you listen to godspeed or dmst
7Do Make Say Think

three of their albums are classics, and their others are all great.
8Elliott Smith

no bad songs. ever. no. bad. songs. forget albums, there's never once been a weak moment in his career.
9Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Duh
10Immolation

Discography is so good that even really good albums seem mediocre.
11Incantation

Two absolute death metal masterpieces also they wrote one of the best dm songs ever. everything in their discog is solid
12maudlin of the Well

Bath and LYBM are in leagues of their own but their latest and earliest releases are both interesting and fantastically executed.
13the national

first two albums were good but then WTFWTF 3 ALBUMS OF ABSOLUTE CUNT DESTROYING OWNAGE. where the fuck did that come from
14Neurosis

You all knew these guys would be here. No bad albums. Toyed with about 5 different styles of metal and hardcore and have ruled at all of them. Ambient side projects assosciated with them rule. Shrinebuilder ruled. Scott Kelly's solo acoustic folk albums ruled. Steve von Till's solo acoustic folk albums ruled. Few bands can say that they've created an entire GENRE single handedly (fuck off Isis you didn't create shit) even though the genre itself is pretty retarded
15Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

If you want to see just how good this guy's discography is just listen to The Boatman's Call. Or The Firstborn Is Dead. Or the Good Son. Or Let Love In. Or Henry's Dream. Or Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!. Or From Her to Eternity. Or Murder Ballads. Or No More Shall We Part. Fuck it. listen to everything he's done. His other stuff, Grinderman, The Birthday Party and all his soundtrack work (with aforementioned messiah Warren Ellis) is all brilliant too. He also wrote two novels, one of which is fucking great
16Oceansize

can't see anyone disliking them tbh. except iluvatar. but hes gay so
17Off Minor

best screamo band ever or best screamo band ever?
18Opeth

everything worth listening to except damnation that album sucks
19Outkast

yep
20Radiohead

Debut=mediocre then everything they released afterward was gold. They released two mindblowing albums. Kid A is perfect except for the fact that it isn't as good as OK Computer.
21Regina Spektor

rules
22The Smiths

yeah cant be bothered to write deion/explanation for these guys you should all know.
