TRMshadow: Ps2. What Have I Missed?

TRMshadow 12.29.10	Bought 1&2, Didn't for 3-5. This is basically just a "What are your favorite PS2 games" list in disguise, so tell me what I should look out for since I'm gonna' try to buy a butt-load of used games while I'm there.

AngelofDeath 12.29.10	5 is amazing and you need it. As far as games for PS2, two of my favorites are Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Devil May Cry 3.

Metal GS3, at least one of the Hitman games, possibly Timesplitters: Future Perfect, Tekken 5 (the best one in the series), Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy XII, Shadow of the Colossus, Bully (or 'Canis Canem Edit', as its known on my side of the pond) and Resident Evil 4 (the indisputable king of the entire series)

Puzzles 12.29.10	The Jak and Daxter series was amazing. Also, God of War I and II, Okami, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Bully, Burnout Revenge, Burnout 3 (which is probably better of the two). That's all I can really think of, but they're all totally awesome.

theacademy 12.29.10	just to help you, I'll wrap up everyone's posts into one neat one: metal gear trilogy (first one is on PS1) jak trilogy THPS 3 and THUG ONLY Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 GOW and GOW 2 GTA III ONLY NBA Street (original) ------------------------------------------------------ ALSO: Pick up these great PS1 titles: Dino Crisis Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Spider-man FF VII Tekken 2 and 3 Crash Bandicoot 3 (don't fuck with Resident Evil titles since you can get the beautifully remastered versions on Gamecube)

Masochist 12.29.10	I'm in the same boat as you, man; I missed the PS2 craze all the way, but I finally got my hands on one not too long ago, so now I'm playing catch-up. These are the games I've bought so far (all used from GameStop; haven't paid more than $15 for any one game): - Soul Calibur 3 - Tony Hawk's Project 8 - God of War - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (get that one instead of Snake Eater, it's worth the slightly higher price) - Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix ...and I'm not sad for any of my purchases so far. These are the games I'm planning on buying soon: - Shadow of the Colossus - God of War 2 - Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 - Okami - Ico I have to agree with pretty much everyone else who's commented thus far: the most essential game to play on PS2 is probably Shadow of the Colossus (and keep in mind, I have yet to play it!). Don't forget about Ico, though. That game is like the "Intelligence Qube" of the PS2; it's $40.00 used at GameStop, and if it has its box, consider yourself lucky. It's an older game, but it's supposed to be one of the best for the PS2 (it's made by the same company who made Shadow of the Colossus).
MassiveAttack 12.29.10	I actually did something similar to this and spent some money to get PS2 games I never got time to play or never had the money for. I just finished playing them. These are what I recommend. Okami Resident Evil 4 Dark Cloud 2 Metal Gear Solid 3 (MGS2 isn't that great...man did I hate the ending so preachy). Shadow of the Colossus God of War I & II Final Fantasy X & XII Beyond Good and Evil (Great action-adventure game) Jak Series (Jak: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak III...Jak III owns, it's simply the pinnacle of the series) Xenosaga Series (Episodes I, II, III. With the exception of Episode II, which was sorta Americanized the series is fantastic. It has a storyline deeply ingrained with philosophy and religion). Devil May Cry 3 (After a shitty sequel, the third in the series improves everything the 2nd should of) Grandia II (The combat system is beyond fucking awesome, it's probably one of my favorite combat systems in any RPG). Silent Hill 2 (The series got redundant after awhile, but the sequel and the first to grace the PS2 is amazing. The atmosphere in the Silent Hill series is what sells it).

TRMshadow 12.30.10	Thanks Everyone for the recs, I went back today (before reading the comments made after I fell asleep [was about 28 or something when I nodded]) and got KH, FF XII, and Dark Cloud 2. I went through all the games they had at the store and these are the ones I didn't see: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Shadow of the Colossus Metal Gear Solid Okami Any Tekkens Silent Hill Shadow Hearts Any Xenosaga After reading all your posts I remember seeing Ico but thought nothing of it (in original case too) I guess I'll have to run back there again tomorrow. (also got the Rush vinyl while I was out)
MassiveAttack 12.30.10	nice. I recommend you buy Shadow of Colossus on ebay. It's well worth it. It's unfortunate you don't have a PS3. They announced an HD-updated PS3 collection of Ico/Shadow of Colossus together, much like they did with God of War I & II and the Sly games 1,2,3.
TRMshadow 12.31.10	Hopefully the first Couple PS4s will be backwards compatible... I'll get hold of all those when that time comes.
