| Funny Games
Michael Haneke has a lot of interesting films which seem to stir up a lot of controversy. Maybe it's is awkwardness with sexual subjects ( The White Ribbon ) or possibly the bizarre situations he creates with characters ( Funny Games ). Funny Games is his most bizarre, with a lot of experimental ideas. He made the first Funny Games in '97 which is all in subtitles since the language is Austrian. In '07 he recreated his film practically shot for shot with somewhat big American actors, Tim Roth and Naomi Watts. Personally I like the original, the theme seems to fit much better with the first given actors, and the personality seems a lot more authentic. I'd like to see just because I'm curious to whom liked which better and why | 1 | | Los Campesinos! 02.09.10 | haven't seen the original but I liked how gritty the remake was, although the same message has been done before and better and with much less pretension.
I really wanna see 'the white ribbon' and 'cache', as I've heard nothing but good things about them. | somberlain
02.09.10 | haven't seen either but the remake was torn to shreds by the critics so I had no interest in watching it | americanmusicmachine
02.09.10 | it got mixed reviews, but it's not a movie that's meant to be liked really. haneke clearly wants the veiwer to hate the movie or at least have a bad taste in their moths after watching it. |
