Sputnik’s 2024 GAME: the suffering

It’s game time! Those who comment in this list agree to the game’s rules. 1. If you comment “I comply” in the comment section below, you are obligated to create a song from a genre that I choose. 2. You must post your self-created song publicly for all to hear once complete. 3. You must finish the song by the end of April, and post your link in the comment section below. What a way to start off. N64 type synths meets a super simple foot on the floor beat. In theory it’s progressive house related, but it feels very experimental. The sound bites are funny, and the wonky synths with that create an experience that’s just perfectly goofy and a little trippy. Very janky, fun track, but it certainly progresses and has nice melody work. An overall catchy rhythm, and nice synth pop extension. Good job on this track.

Vapourwave is a weird genre to me but it has some goodies. Bellovddd went the trippier, more experimental way with added screams - oh shi. Fairly positive vaporwave doesn’t have screams? But idc care cuz it sounds good. The synths are perfect, it’s just a great track and shows Bellovddd’s creativity.

Going for the more techno/hyper route, this track slaps. You can definitely hear the Sonic the Hedgehog influence in it too. Well composed track and catchy rhythm. Very old school, sort of lo-fi sound. Either your thing or not, but the composition should more than make up for your hesitation. Amazing work!

Aggrotech is a bit uncomfortable, and a somewhat zany genre. This track mostly nails what it’s about with its incredibly distorted vox, and generally dark, electronic ambience. The saxophone was pretty dang wonky, but fun. My YouTube video was sampled but not credited (tsk tsk). Still, brownie points. Great track overall, with a good rhythm and framework.

Cugno is a silly fellow, so I knew they’d excel making the silliest genre of music. Unfortunately, they only made a track a minute long so it’s more like a teaser of the infinite possibilities of Cugno making crunkcore. BUT you get Cugno going crunky, and mentioning how “u want my ass” and such generic trashy lyrics as is needed for the genre. Can’t go wrong! Another bop added to my very weird list
