Bloodmoon I: Ranked
My personal ranking for the new Converge+ album Bloodmoon: I |
1 | Converge Blood Moon
Fantastic opener, sums up everything about this project perfectly. |
2 | Viscera of Men
Love the transition from 'regular' Converge in the first 15 seconds before they go all funeral doom on us for a bit and then into the sludgier vibes thereafter. I think this song sounds the most like what I expected from the project, strong Neurosis influence on this one too. |
3 | Lord of Liars
Love Chelsea on the verses, didn't expect such a mathcore-esque track on the album. Brilliant all round. |
4 | Coil
Didn't like it as much as a single but it's grown to be one of my favourites. |
5 | Crimson Stone
The best song from the album's generally more lacklustre second half, beautiful track. |
6 | Tongues Playing Dead
This sounds like something straight off The Dusk in Us. |
7 | Daimon
Love this one too but it's a bit repetitive, although I do return to it often. Great vocals from everyone here but especially Brodsky. |
8 | Flower Moon
Reminds me a lot of Hell to Pay, just not as good obviously. Still a great track regardless. |
9 | Blood Dawn
More of an epilogue to the album really but it's nice. |
10 | Scorpion's Sting
A bit harsh to have this so low down but I genuinely don't love it the same way I do the other songs. It's a nice change of pace on the album though (I will say that I find the sequencing to be pretty much perfect). |
11 | Failure Forever
Bit of a middle-of-the-road Cave In track. I like Cave In but this doesn't do much for me. Probably should have left this and Scorpion's Sting off the album to make it run a bit better but I can't deny their placements are ideal. |
