Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies Ranked (also Some Digs For 2014)

I want to make movie lists too. "But Conor it's called SputnikMUSIC not SputnikMOVIES" I DON'T CARE. But since there's bound to be some bitching I'm also putting my favourite albums from 2014 (I haven't listened to much this year so no bitching about that either, but feel free to rec)
10 Of Mice & Men
Restoring Force

Iron Man 3 (2013) - Okay if any of the MCU movies can be considered truly awful, it's this one. Setting up an awesome of the classic Iron Man archvillain The Mandarin, then switching him out with a drunken lout and a twitchy spurned nerd, that was the least of IM3's problems. Barely any Iron Man. Nonsensical fragility of the suits. Extremis. NO AC/DC. Bullshit.
9Kyng
Burn the Serum

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - Nobody's favourite superhero battles evil Nazi's despite being a mascot with the power of super gymnastics. The definition of cinematic 'meh', the film does introduce the Tesseract so really it is the first film that gets the overall arc of the franchise going but...
8Linkin Park
The Hunting Party

Thor (2010) - The first outing for the God of Thunder is an okayish fantasy actioner that introduces the world of Asgard and the archvillain Loki who plots to become king to spite his older brother Thor of whom he is jealous. Also introduces Hawkeye in a brief cameo. Other than that, it is comparatively average to some of the better movies in the franchise.
7 Sevendust
Time Travellers & Bonfires

Iron Man 2 (2010) - Quite a disappointment after his epic debut, the sequel does have its positives, such as the introduction of Black Widow, Don Cheadle's great turn as War Machine and... um... unfortunately, the movie is shorter on humour and Mickey Rourke is unfathomable bland and hammy. Good for a brief thrill though.
6Chevelle
La Gargola

The Incredible Hulk (2008) - Saving the green psychopath after the abysmal 2003 movie, the second movie of the MCU retells the origin story of the Bruce Banner and his struggle to control his dark emotions that turn him into a big guy who likes to SMASH. Entertaining popcorn stuff but hardly Ed Norton's best turn. Probably for the best that the role was recast to Mark Ruffalo later.
5Behemoth
The Satanist

Thor: The Dark World (2013) - The first one was all right and at least it gave us Loki, the second solo outing for the God of Thunder is much better. When the Dark Elves led by a somewhat disappointing Malekith attack Asgard in search of a powerful force known as the Aether, Thor must ally himself reluctantly with his scheming adopted brother Loki and save the nine worlds during a merging that happens every thousand years or something. Forget the muddled plot and enjoy the awesome fight sequences.
4Crowbar
Symmetry in Black

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) - A surprising turn for Cap, whose first movie was all kinds of 'meh'. When upheaval strikes S.H.I.E.L.D. Cap must form an alliance with Black Widow and Falcon to save the world from a new HYDRA threat as well as confront his amnesiac best friend. Highly entertaining and well- directed, it was a real game changer for the MCU and can almost make you forget the first movie even exists. Almost...
3Cynic
Kindly Bent to Free Us

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) - The best movie this summer. It shouldn't have worked but oh, did it work. So outrageous and ridiculous and still managed to keep all fans young and old entertained. And who knew a character who could only say three words voiced by an aging passable action star could evoke so much emotion? Set up the future of the MCU in a big way with cameos from future big bad Thanos as well as a surprising guest at the very very end.
2 Mastodon
Once More 'Round the Sun

Iron Man (2008) - The one that started it all, hilarious and action packed whilst setting the scene for the future of the series, not that I was expecting as much until I saw THAT end credits scene! Definitely the best stand-alone movie in the MCU, pity the sequels couldn't live up to it.
1Overkill
White Devil Armory

The Avengers/ Avengers Assemble (2012) - Only this could really be #1. Bringing together all the heroes of Phase One (except War Machine), the team is finally assembled to take down Loki and stop him from subjugating Earth with his loaned army of Chitauri. Not without its flaws but certainly one of the greatest hero movies of all time. The entire climactic battle in New York is the greatest cinematic sequence this century. Also teases big bad Thanos in the end credits.
