05.04.10 | finally done with this damn thing. please let me know things I forgot to include. |
Romulus
05.04.10 | Awesome list, serious props. |
TomServo
05.04.10 | thank you |
Slipping Away
05.04.10 | holy shit man amazing list, just looking at the top ten you nailed 1,2 (always good to see),4, 6, 10. Honestly, this is one of the best 90's lists i've seen anyone make |
eternium
05.04.10 | Wow, I love this list. It's not neglecting any genres and most of the albums I want are here. |
SeaAnemone
05.04.10 | seriously solid list. wouldn't be all that close to my personal one, but still these are incredible albums (from what I've heard) and though you missed a few lesser-known ones this almost comes out as if Sputnik would vote for a 90's list, I think, nice job at covering your bases. |
eternium
05.04.10 | I would add
Deftones - Around the Fur
Converge - Petitioning the Empty Sky
Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
Slint - Spiderland
Mogwai - Young Team
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Any maybe a few others. |
SeaAnemone
05.04.10 | yeah Slint is the biggest hole from what I can tell, but I feel like that's saying something seeing as I can barely find anything else! (except NMH of course but let's not go there) |
TomServo
05.04.10 | thanks for the comments everybody.
I realized i actually just flat out forgot to include Nirvana- In utero and also SeaAnemone, i forgot to include Neutral milk hotel.
oh and I've heard great things about slint, but haven't had a chance to really check them out yet. |
SeaAnemone
05.04.10 | Spiderland is better than 9 and pretty close to 10 and 11 if that's any indication |
8bit
05.04.10 | list is cool. |
TomServo
05.04.10 | gratuitous bump due to how long it took to make this list.
oh and i'm finally downloading spiderland. should make for some nice going to sleep music later. |
Slipping Away
05.04.10 | well one of the few things this is missing is any sort of electronic music, so maybe aphex twin or the prodigy among others could be on here |
FeralMemories
05.04.10 | Awesome content in this list, although I disagree with some of the placings, such as Death being much too low. One of their albums would prolly be #1 for me so haha. |
diamondeggplant
05.14.10 | I love you for not including Nirvana on this list. |
porch
05.14.10 | nice list but shame on you for putting Refused ahead of Fugazi |
TomServo
05.14.10 | shame on me indeed. that really was an oversight and there are a few on the list, plus some albums i just forgot.
also i forgot to say that the order of this list isn't necessarily that important, i was just trying to throw out 90 great albums. |
Masochist
05.14.10 | Holy shit, what a list!
I see Hot Water Music, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Air, Tom Waits, In Flames (and their best album, at that!), Refused...Failure...3EB, which is absolutely one of the greatest products of the 90's,
Only thing I can see missing (other than Bad Religion, which I never expected on here anyways) would be 'Ready To Die', and pretty much any semblance of West Coast rap at all. Maybe Sigur Ros. Maybe Porcupine Tree. Offspring's 'Smash'. And personally, 'Scenes from a Memory'. But there's only so much room, and I can't say that the list is any less impressive even without the exclusions.
Good work, sir ;-) |
TomServo
05.14.10 | thank you. it's funny you mentioned bad religion because I've never really listened to them before but i recently downloaded "stranger than fiction" and I'm really enjoying it.
oh and i'm only a casual rap/hip-hop and electronica fan which explains the lack of those genres on the list. any recs from those genres would be much appreciated.

A Tribe Called Quest - 'Midnight Marauders'

BT - 'Movement In Still Life'
Daft Punk - 'Discovery'
Fischerspooner - 'Odyssey'
