Favourite Metal Albums

Obviously not a complete list... and part from the first few the albums aren't in any particular order.
1Death
The Sound Of Perseverance

In my opinion, the greatest album of all time. There are no flaws in this album. If you like metal and don't mind screaming vocals then go buy it or download it or borrow it...WHATEVER, JUST GO, NOW! RIP CHUCK.
2Insomnium
Above The Weeping World

There is no other album in the world that sounds so heavy and so beautiful at the same time.
3Scar Symmetry
Holographic Universe

Actually, if there's any album that comes close to 'Above The Weeping World' it's probably this one. This album does have a significantly different sound however. It's still melodic death metal but with a more modern and progressive approach and clean vocals. The fusion of growls and clean vocals is probably the best vocal performance in metal (in my opinion)
4Black Sabbath
Paranoid

No need to comment here. This album defined heavy metal.
5Death
Scream Bloody Gore

The first death metal album. Thank Chuck for making the world a better place.
6Iron Maiden
The Number Of The Beast

What got me into metal music. Flawless guitar work, flawless vocals, flawless lyrics. Revolutionary.
7Mors Principium Est
Liberation = Termination

A masterpiece of modern melodic metal. Fantastic keyboard use, kickass shredding and just all around awesomeness.
8In Flames
The Jester Race

The first 'pure' melodic death metal album and a masterpiece of the genre.
9Dir En Grey
Uroboros

A magical album. A beautiful fusion of psychotic anger and melancholy.
10Trivium
Shogun

A heavy metal landmark of the 21st Century.
11Dir En Grey
Withering To Death

Another stellar Dir En Grey album.
12Necrophagist
Epitaph

Inhuman technicality, pure complexity.
13Bullet For My Valentine
The Poison

For some reason, brutally addictive.
14 Insomnium
Since The Day It All Came Down

The bridge lead of the title track is one of the greatest moments in music.
15Metallica
Master Of Puppets

The biggest metal band's in the world biggest album.
16Katatonia
The Great Cold Distance

Pure Emotion. A dark and gloomy opus.
17Deftones
White Pony

Some might cling over whether the Deftones are a metal band or but they are definitely not a nu metal band so lets just agree to either disagree or call them an experimental metal band and nod at the fact that White Pony is fucking awesome.
18Iron Maiden
A Matter Of Life And Death

A triumphant album by the heavy metal giants.
19Death
Symbolic

The sound of Death before their final and masterful transformation.
20Insomnium
Across The Dark

This album hasn't been released yet and I downloaded it a few hours ago... and I'm positive it will stay on this list for a long time.
