05.01.13 | Lay 'em on me. Instrumental and mellow prog-stuff preferred. Looking for metal with cool jazz influences rather than straight up experimental fusion.
Basically I'm looking for something that's complex and dynamic while being highly melodic. |
PunchforPunch
05.01.13 | cool man! |
demon of surveillance
05.01.13 | Liquid Tension Experiment
Unexpect (more avant-garde than anything but some jazz influence)
Intronaut
You may fight it too dissonant and chaotic for your liking but you could always try The Dillinger
Escape Plan as well. |

Calc
05.01.13 | well he also calls 5 jazzy so I dunno what he wants and doesn't want!! lol |
SitarHero
05.01.13 | @Calc: I want stuff that's basically metal but with hints of jazz. Like, for instance, Chimp Spanner's Cloud City or Interval's Epiphany.
Are the instrumental versions of any of TesseracT's albums available somewhere?
Thanks for the recs guys. I've been meaning to check out Atheist for a while, but I've never gotten around to it. Now's as good a time as any.
Also, why is Blind Melon a recommendation. I love the band...but there's nothing really jazzy or metal about them... |

Exivious and Cloudyhead are the tits though... |
JamieTwort
05.02.13 | Have you listened Subterranean Masquerade yet? The jazz influences in their sound aren't as obvious as some of the other bands that have been rec'd but there's definitely a strong jazzy feel to their music. |

05.02.13 | "I'm about to check out Subterranean Masquerade."
Cool, there's quite an eclectic mix of influences on that album. |
SitarHero
05.02.13 | Man seriously. Subterranean Masquerade is all over the place! This is pretty awesome. Not REALLY what I was looking for, but thoroughly entertaining while I'm listening to it... |
JamieTwort
05.02.13 | Yeah it's not purely jazz-influenced metal (it's more eclectic/avant-garde) but I thought there might be some moments on there you'd enjoy. |
Donchivo
01.05.15 | ok: if someone still reads this: the much maligned "spheres"-album by Pestilence could actually be up your ally. Not so tough death metalwith a nice lofty and airy jazzy feeling |
