Chambered's Top 30 Songs Of 2010

here is my top 30 songs of the year. While I think 2010 was more of an "album" year, there were no doubt some songs that will stick with me for quite some time. hope you enjoy.
30Women
Public Strain

Eyesore: There's a few problems I have with this album which I won't get into now, except for the fact that the clear best song is at the end (which usually isn't a criticism of mine, some of my favorite albums save the best for last), tucked away in a bright corner filled to the brim with collateral energy and sends the album off into oblivion.
29Alexisonfire
Dog's Blood

Dog's Blood: Finally, Alexisonfire seem back after a lackluster couple of releases with a return to their roots of atmospheric hardcore, with Dallas Green's wonderous croon of "In dog's blood, we will all drown" as the cherry on top.
28Tera Melos
Patagonian Rats

Trident Tail: One spot of unbelievable clarity in a fuckfest maze of an album.
27Arcade Fire
The Suburbs

The Suburbs: With a chorus that ranks up there with the band's best, the title track from the Canadian group's latest is lovely.
26Menomena
Mines

Lunchmeat: there's many little wtf moments on this song and one BIG wtf moment that eventually come together in the end with a truly killer guitar lead that is at once snarling and beautiful.
25Sleeping Village
Fragments

My Quality Of Being: A 9 minute forray into bleak waters. Harsh black metal collides with the beauty of a shooting star beaming towards the horizon.
24The Roots
How I Got Over

Dear God 2.0: The raps are solid, the beat is driving, the chorus is ethereal, everything comes together in a way only the class of artists like The Roots could deliver. "it's still me one of yo biggest fans / I get off work, right back to work again / I probably need to go ahead and have my head examined / look how they got me on the Def Jam payment plan...they send my dad to you in a barrage of bullets / why is the world ugly when you made it in your image / and why is livin life such a fight to the finish / for this high percentage / when the sky's the limit / a second is a minute / every hour's infinite"
23Deftones
Diamond Eyes

You've Seen The Butcher: It's pretty much an exorsize in juns but regardless it's effective and has a groovy as hell chorus that bombs away at the listener. Abe Cunningham has almost never sounded sharper.
22Dinosaur Feathers
Fantasy Memorial

Sleeping In: The songwriting here is fantastic (the rest of the album is a no no) as the song so naturally bleeds into its eargasmic 2nd half repeated climax of "you never wanted to sleep in / you never wanted to let the morning win". Superb.
21Daft Punk
Tron: Legacy

Armory: Derezzed may have the punching power, but Armory just blows it away in terms of vividness pertaining to Tron.
20Big Boi
Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty

Fo Yo Sorrows: Just the most chill of tracks. Toke that shit up.
19Immolation
Majesty And Decay

A Glorious Epoch: Immolation have been slaying heads since forever, and this pounds as hard as anything they have done in their illustrious career.
18Crocodiles
Sleep Forever

Girl In Black: A gleaming mountaintop of poignant, heartfelt lyricism and sparse atmospherics.
17The Dillinger Escape Plan
Option Paralysis

Gold Teeth On A Bum: The ending. Nuff said.
16How To Dress Well
Love Remains

Walking This Dumb: Recorded in a live setting, this pulsating, beautiful song begs you to rave your way into the night.
15Sufjan Stevens
The Age Of Adz

I Want To Be Well: Has the best part on the album (you know which part) and the rest is sublime.
14Deerhunter
Halcyon Digest

He Would Have Laughed: What a mammoth way to end the album. Not mammoth in sound but just how personal the lyrics seem to be and how fluid everything is in portraying the message.
13Flying Lotus
Cosmogramma

Do The Astral Plane: Flying Lotus is DJ'ing the biggest party in the solar system and this is where the club reaaaally gets rockin.
12MellowHype
BLACKENEDWHITE

Loaded: The most swag song in an album full of swag. Just wait til the bass kicks in at the "bambi" part and you're floored.
11Warpaint
The Fool

Undertow: The vocals are instantly memorable, the music is beautiful, and the lyrics will relate to many a person who has had a difficult relationship.
10Max Richter
Infra

Infra 6: My god, this just pulls at your heartstrings with such soft piano melody and slight static in the background. Quite possibly the saddest song of the year.
9The Tallest Man On Earth
The Wild Hunt

King Of Spain: Seems to slightly rise above the rest on The Wild Hunt. Could have been a few songs.
8Dark Time Sunshine
Vessel

Run: You just need to listen to the production and beat to get a sense for how astoundingly chill this is.
7Janelle Monae
The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III of IV)

Say You'll Go: It could have been the smash-hit, eclectic "Tightrope" but this is Janelle at her most scarred and vulnerable, creating a song that sounds like it's bottled up in a jar of clouds.
6The Knife
Tomorrow, In A Year

Seeds: The cooldown after the penultimate T,IAY track is a mind-boggling techno beat that doesn't seem like at much at first but when it explodes into frenetic opera-house you know this is something fucking special.
5Titus Andronicus
The Monitor

A Pot In Which To Piss: Let's be honest for a minute, the last remaining minutes of this track will probably be forever ingrained into my skull, as a reminder to fucking LIVE.
4Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Monster: Nicki Minaj
3The National
High Violet

Conversation 16: Completely ruins me in more ways than one, plus has arguably the moment of the year. "I was afraid, I'd eat your brains / cause I'm evil"
2The Knife
Tomorrow, In A Year

Colouring Of Pigeons: It represents the explosion of modern life in the evolution of our existence that has made me go "holy shit" since February.
1Titus Andronicus
The Monitor

The Battle Of Hampton Roads: Will most likely be number 1 in 2019. Sorry decade.
