Soundwave
Not quite as good as the past two years due to the ramount of good rbands but still a pretty good day. |
1 | Saves The Day
Fun start to the day with rain coming down. Played half a set of Pinkerton
covers and half of their own material. |
2 | The Menzingers
Played stuff from all of their full lengths to a pretty small crowd in a huge
mud pit. Incredibly tight and a lot of fun. |
3 | Fireworks
Stuck mostly to tracks off Gospel which the crowd didn't particularly like a
lot. Still had lots of sing-alongs and the crowd opened up for the few tracks
they played from All I Have To Offer... |
4 | Break Even
This was their last show in Brisbane and the crowd sent them off in a great
way. Lots of crowd surfing, circle pits, front flips off people/bins and heaps
of mud. Couldn't have asked for a better way to send them off. |
5 | Underoath
Sadly had to cut half of their set out due to technical difficulties because
nothing was working. They made up for it with the 5 songs they played
though. Everything was played faster and with a lot more intensity than the
last time I saw them. Second best set of the day. |
6 | Street Dogs
I had a half hour to kill before Bad Religion and the person I went with
wanted to see these guys. Not really my thing but they had a lot of crowd
involvement and people seemed to be really enjoying themselves. |
7 | Bad Religion
Hang up the back for these guys as I wanted to leave early to see some
other bands. Played a lot of their classics from what I saw. Hopefully I can
catch them at their own show one day. |
8 | Circa Survive
Only ended up seeing half of their set but it was great nonetheless. Came
across a lot heavier live than on record. Anthony dislocated his knee while
they were playing Get Out. |
9 | Dashboard Confessional
Saw about 4 songs while waiting for Thursday. Girls swooned while I ate
my beer battered chips and drank my Iced Tea. |
10 | Thursday
Not particularly familiar with Thursday but the played a great set, with a lot
of energy mainly due to Geoff. Their entire set was made up of Full
Collapse. |
11 | The Dillinger Escape Plan
Best set of the day. These guys always kill it and yesterday was no
different even with the technical difficulties. The sound (especially the mics)
were gone the entire set and Greg was pissed due to this and constant
bottles being thrown at him. By the end of the set drums were trashed,
speaker stacks were flipped over and 4 mic stands and a gear cabinet were
thrown into the crowd. |
12 | Letlive
These guys were probably the biggest surprise of the day. Really tight and
crazy as hell. I have no idea if the singer was on something but he seemed
out of it while talking between songs. |
13 | Slipknot
Didn't really pay attention to their set but the crowd was having a lot of
fun. Bailed after these guys for pizza which is always the better option. |
