02.01.12 | Ya I start in the fall so I guess I'm not a good person to talk to. |

02.01.12 | COBOL? Huh. |
Beachcoma
02.01.12 | Nah, i'm still in High School. Looking into pursuing Marketing of some sort when I'm older most likely. |

02.01.12 | Hear mixed things about the major. At my college at least, a lot of the freshman complained that the freshman classes were mind-numbingly easy if you've used a computer in the last 10 years but I haven't heard many complaints since then. What do you want to do with a computer science major? |
Voivod
02.01.12 | I know how to program on Fortran and LabView. Does that count?? :-P |
macadoolahicky
02.01.12 | Freshman in college, computer networking major! I listen to Radiohead while I program ^.^ |
Yazz_Flute
02.01.12 | I'm a freshman as well. I'm currently a music major but I'm taking a few computer programming classes as well. Really easy stuff so far. I'm looking at an audio-engineering program that my school is just about to make official for the beginning of next semester. |

02.01.12 | I'm a sophomore
@FreePizza, what kind of classes? And @ uni or cc?
@macadoolahicky I kinda hate networking. I guess I wouldn't mind network software but I'd never be a network admin if I had a choice. |

02.01.12 | I don't know what classes specifically because I had this conversation several years ago but university. |
tkxxx7
02.01.12 | Huh. Well, uh yeah um okay. |
Tupik
02.01.12 | Right here. I've made a video game in C#, studying C++ and Java right now |
tkxxx7
02.01.12 | C# is just like Java. what kinda game? |
Crysis
02.01.12 | My roommate is a CS major. Upper level classes at my college (U of Maine) are extremely difficult and time-consuming. |
tkxxx7
02.01.12 | sounds about right |
Tyrannic
02.01.12 | basically taking computer science at my school because i don't wanna finish my psyche degree. |
tkxxx7
02.01.12 | lol then what makes you think you'll wanna finish a comp sci degree? |
Crysis
02.01.12 | Although the payoff is amazing once you're out with your degree. If I could go back in time I would have picked up programming in high school and majored in it in college. Sadly I can't program for shit and am getting a B.A. so I'm looking at a life of debilitating poverty. Oh well. |
Tyrannic
02.01.12 | because computer science has facts where psychology does not. |

02.01.12 | why can't you program, Cry? |
Lunarfall
02.01.12 | CIS (info systems) major reporting in. I'm in my 2nd year, and here's my experience:
1st semester or programming is piss easy. Java basics and such.
2nd semester classes are balls to the wall, and a shit ton of work to boot. All about program optimization. This weeds out all the lazy bastards.
I'm currently in classes dealing with C# and .NET stuff. |
Crysis
02.01.12 | I probably could if I tried, but I'm way too far into my college career to switch last-minute (graduating in May). I know basic HTML but stuff like Java, C++, Python, etc. are just jibberish to me. I'm very, very good with computer hardware, though. |
tkxxx7
02.01.12 | I'm sure you could get pretty good at it if you ever went back for another degree, Python is pretty easy to pick up (I've heard ppl have success on Khan Academy and other places)
congrats on making it through man |
Crysis
02.01.12 | Thanks but
"if you ever went back for another degree"
probably won't happen due to the sheer cost of it ;) |
tkxxx7
02.01.12 | haha I don't think I'll ever stop going to school |
Yazz_Flute
02.01.12 | My dad graduated with a CS and Math degree from the university I go to currently and makes 160k a year working for IBM so I mean...if I get really into it that sounds good for me aha. But first I want to check out this audio engineering program. |
Tupik
02.02.12 | "C# is just like Java. what kinda game?"
It was an advance wars-like game in 3D |
