An Album List For No Reason

disg?!?!?!
1Drake
So Far Gone

This is the EP, released in the So Far Gone (mixtape)->Thank Me Later
interim. It's really, really good, especially because of "Fear". I hadn't heard
that track before last night whilst listening to this, and it might be my new
favorite Drake track.
2Luomo
Vocalcity

Very evocative "microhouse" (or what you will) record; reminds me of
playing SSX Tricky. "Tessio" is one of the best songs of the past decade,
probably.
3Araabmuzik
Electronic Dream

Some of this is a little subpar, but most is really gorgeous. My favorite is
definitely "Streetz Tonight".
4Michael Jackson
Off The Wall

I loved every song I had heard off this, and, now, after listening in full, I can
say I love every song! "Get On The Floor" is a new favorite. Love that
reverb!
5Sleater-Kinney
The Woods

A little same-y, perhaps, but still kicks ass (even though it doesn't blow my
mind like it did when I first listened to it a few months ago). "Jumpers" is
classic.
6Regina Spektor
Soviet Kitsch

Another record I don't love quite as much as I used to, but some songs
have really grown with time. "Chemo Limo" and "Somedays" in particular.
7R. Kelly
Untitled

Rules. Really inconsistent sort of but most of it rocks. Even the shitty stuff
("I Love the DJ," "Supaman High"), if that makes sense. "Exit" is soooo
classic.
8Linda Perhacs
Parallelograms

Gorgeous and strange folk record from 1970. Check it out if you like that
kind of shit. "Chimacum Rain" is too beautiful.
9The Blue Nile
Hats

This record pretty much has one mode--melancholy, nocturnal; sort of an
'80s pop of In The Wee Small Hours. But man, is it effective! The
first two tracks are my favorites.
10The Caretaker
An Empty Bliss Beyond This World

Manipulated prewar parlor jazz samples--absolutely gorgeous, a rare "high-
concept" release whose listening experience lives up to its promise. Just
listen.
