bands I judge to have been forgotten by zoomers

per the discord I'm in and its last.fm bot
1Sampa the Great

OK I'm gonna start with a red herring which is that this is just an artist I like a lot who I think is ignored by a lot of people including zoomers. The Return (2019) feels uncannily stolen once in a while but it's 77 minutes and 19 tracks of pure bliss. hit it
2The Fiery Furnaces

idk I was never super into this band but they def got lost in the lurch
3The Sight Below

Ambient with a beat--perfect studying or working music.
4The Cradle

"Bag of Holding". this is just some brooklyn guy and it's recent too, doesn't count
5Mulatu Astatke

the fuck was this poor showing for this Ethiopian legend. in reality, has to be more popular than ever with the young ones.
6Keith Fullerton Whitman

I was gonna host a concert with this guy, my sister's friend natalie, the argentine composer cecilia lopez, former sputnik staffer conrad tao and his musical partner charmaine lee march 20 2020 but then it all started going downhill. LISTEN TO "LISBON"
7Camp Lo

this is surely more popular than ever among zoomers but it also had a piss-poor showing.
8Autre Ne Veut

the first two tracks and the last one on that debut album are fucking awesome
9Quadron

"LFT" is one of my favorite album openers of all time
10The Pharcyde

bizarre ride, and the backwards music video, NOW.
11Why?

Just cuz I said it in the Big Thief threadD
12Danielson

SHIPS (2006) FOREVER
13Dreamcrusher

c'mon get into dreamcrusher
14Nara Leao

ditto Camp Lo
15The Free Design

"Kites are Fun"
16Benjamin Diamond

"Little Scare"/"Fit Your Heart"
17Califone

I guess
18Liliput

oh do listen to the compilation
19Abdullah Ibrahim

this guy is 88 and was in the anti-apartheid trenches and has an amazing discography and said he could maybe do a show at the stupid (but HUGE) restaurant cafe thing I have a connection with in queens so let's fucking go...
20Goodfight

"Lucy". also Brooklyn. nobody knows them not even millennials
21Lido Pimienta

"Te Queria"
22Todd Rundgren

Relative to how good he is, definitely a poor showing
23New Buffalo

Oh my god, absolutely. The 2001 EP, the 2004 album.
24Bleeding Rainbow

just "Waking Dream"
2512 Rods

My favorite band of 2022 by far
26Kelis

get into those first two albums bro, the first one in particular is excellent
27Ekkehard Ehlers

drone Early Pitchfork-core cf. KFW, Basinski. "Plays" compilation--so good
28Julia Kwamya

get into Julia
29DeBarge

I'm gonna go check the RYM page for DeBarge
