| Top Albums Of 2011 (8 Months Early)
It's that time of year...wait, no it isn't. | 1 | | Iron & Wine Kiss Each Other Clean
Sam Beam forsakes tender folk melodies for fuzzed out indie rock. Prefer it or
not, it's the most dynamic set of songs in his discography. "Fake Name Is Good
Enough Me" is the closer of the year thus far. | 2 | | Demdike Stare Tryptych
Who knew dark ambience could be this engaging. Who knew that three hours of
it could be so damn good. | 3 | | Wye Oak Civilian
Breathtaking narcotic folk from a budding indie band. | 4 | | The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart Belong
Catchiest album of the young year...need I say more. | 5 | | Vessels Helioscope
Post Rock this engaging hasn't been made in years. Write down "Meatman,
Piano-Tuner, Prostitute" as the wierdest song title ever and also a strong
contender for SOTY | 6 | | James Blake James Blake
James Blake's experimentations with minimalism and dubstep are one of the
most exciting developments of this year. His brother and sister may not speak
to him, but personally I can't get enough of him. | 7 | | Radiohead The King Of Limbs
Once you get pas the fact that they have enough bravado to ignore their entire
fanbase, and enough gumption to only put eight tracks on the album, you
realize that it's another impressive collection of songs.
What did you expect? This is Radiohead. | 8 | | Destroyer Kaputt
Indie Rock legend decides to make cheesy 80's contemporary jazz pop songs.
There is no fucking way this could work...right?...Actually it's not the fact this it
works, it's the fact that the whole album is almost flawless | 9 | | Nicolas Jaar Space Is Only Noise
I think I've developed a fetish for this album.. and it might be the greatest
fetish I have ever developed. Nicolas Jaars meditation of space, not only in
theory but also in sound, is the most complete collection of music released this
year. Ranging from everything from fucked up dance music to latin violins to
hazed jazz to Ray Charles, Nicolas Jaars has created a Tour De Force with few
modern equals. (Yeah, I stole that last sentence from my own review, sue me
:P) | |

03.23.11 | New Review coming tomorrow. I have no idea how lists work, so 9. is my #1 of the year, and #1 is my ninth, do you follow? | pillowswantyoursoul
03.23.11 | Kvlt stuff. | letsgofishing
03.23.11 | Yeah, the cultish dark metal vibe is pretty much exactly what I was aiming for. | Chrisjon89
03.23.11 | I don't forsee anything even remotely good being released in the next 8 months. In fact the music industry will probably grind to a halt til 2012 when it sees this.
In all honesty though, you might like PJ Harvey's latest, 'Let England Shake'. | letsgofishing
03.23.11 | Yeah, I still need to check out PJ. Harvey. I really haven't been into a lot of her earlier stuff, but what I've heard about "England" does sound sweet. | omnipanzer
