05.12.21 | DISCUS
also INB4 Altar of Plagues and Archivist, those are great bands but i feel they are more of a "post" type of black metal, instead of Blackened Post Metal. |
GhandhiLion
05.12.21 | a lot of blackgaze is closer to post-rock imo |
Nikkolae
05.12.21 | shoegaze is such a fucking hard thing to determine, its can be anything from New Wave with reverb to post rock with reverb haha, but I do agree. |
GhandhiLion
05.12.21 | try Monument to Time End mb |
Pikazilla
05.12.21 | check downfall of gaia - swarm of cranes
also fall of efrafa and amenra are more neocrust than bm tbh |
GhandhiLion
05.12.21 | Altar of Plagues fits that criteria imo. More so on their first two albums than Teethed Glory and Injury |
Keyblade
05.12.21 | yea first 2 AoP is the first thing that came to mind
also Agalloch's Ashes is like the perfect example of blackened post metal |
GhandhiLion
05.12.21 | Księżyc milczy luty is in-between |
porcupinetheater
05.12.21 | Cobalt is exactly this. Jam Gin right now (Edit wait you've already got Gin rated, why not on list??)
Solstafir's got some of this going on with the Masterpiece of Bitterness and Köld records

05.12.21 | Ghandi: Ive only ever listened to Teethed Glory and Injury by AOP so i will defo check out the back catalogue
Pika: I was also tempted to add Celeste to that camp, Ive heard many a good things about Downfall of Gaia, will check them out
Porc: I feel Gin leans a bit more on a post rock type of atmosphere if that makes sense than your sludgy "Neurosis" sound, might be a bit more proto Blackedned Post Metal if you will.
Spirit: I've been meaning to check out Inter Arma for a while, where should i?
Thanks so much for the recommendations |

05.12.21 | All Inter Arma is godly. Can't go wrong. The jump in song craft between the debut and Sky Burial is evident, but the debut still has some doomy smashers. From Sky Burial on it's all just a blissful melding of everything that rules in extreme music. |
supremejelly
05.12.21 | Der weg einer freiheit latest album maaybe fits what you're looking for |
deathofasalesman
05.12.21 | Skagos is atmospheric/cascadian bm but there are some very progressive sections that could be considered post-metal |
Nikkolae
05.12.21 | Never heard of those too, will get on Der Weg Einer Freiheit asap |
Shuyin
05.12.21 | All The Empires Of The World - CVRSVS

05.12.21 | The last 3 Inter Arma records are incredible, yes. idk how "blackened" they are though.
Altar of Plagues' White Tomb satisfies the condition pretty well I think, but it's not the greatest thing in the world. Solid 3.5 territory though.
I always felt the two genres were meant for each other sooner or later, but honestly a lot of black metal is already inherently post metal.
I actually consider Agalloch's Black Lake Nidstang just about the finest marriage between the two. |
Avagantamos
05.12.21 | check out Terra Tenebrosa. my favorite is their debut. it has a couple amazing tracks |
botb
05.13.21 | Try the very first Plebeian Grandstand album too Nikky, it’s definitely got more of a post metal mathcore feel but there’s a lot of Deathspell Omega-ish dissonant BM influence in it that they explore much further on their later releases. |
ChoccyPhilly
05.13.21 | Check out the recent Violet Cold album. may be more on the wavelength of blackgaze but kinda fits the bill.
Also Der Weg Eiener Freiheit are excellent and Finisterre is a fucking masterpiece |

05.13.21 | shuyin: I really dig Harakiri for the Sky a lot thanks for the other two
Dan: I have not checked anything from RC since Guidance, but that was really good so yeah, is ballou still producing them? I've only ever heard Low Gazers from PG and that was a great album, love the crunchiness of that production.
Twlichty: wasnt that Melting Sun album a better Sunbather?
also 2 Violet Cold recs, guess i will put them on the list too.
love all the recomendations guys! |

have you heard archivist |
Nikkolae
05.13.21 | Never heard of her,
I did check out Violet Cold's latest and its pretty cool, im not sure how i feel about the production on the guitars but vocals and general musicianship is pretty great, i think the first half of Be Like Magic would be a good proposition for Blackened Post Metal, i dig it. |

05.16.21 | "isn't blackened post-metal just crust?"
nah crust is metallic D-beat hardcore |
parksungjoon
05.16.21 | >isn't blackened post-metal just crust?
that would be very impressive considering crust came about almost a decade before neurosis |
