03.10.09 | So anyone have any ideas why the lists aren't updating?
|
Metalstyles
03.10.09 | you sure you don't want to narrow donw the metal stuff to which metal you want /for example:classical, speed, power,nu,alternative, death, black and so on)
Get some more old stuff from metallica (like "Ride The Lightning" or "Master of Puppets"). Also to get really into metal I would rec you some easier stuff like Disturbed which is just easy hard rock/heavy metal. Maybe try In Flames |
Metalstyles
03.10.09 | Also try bands like Kamelot, Norther, Malefice, Amon Amarth, Amorphis and Nonpoint. |

03.10.09 | No idea.
Since you have In Absentia on here I would recommend Deadwing. I think Deadwing is a more complete album all around, and yes there are long songs, but that doesn't mean they drag on for too long.
Opeth- Ghost Reveries (It's the only one besides Damnation that I have on my iPod. You could go with Watershed as well.)
If you like Porcupine Tree then you would also like Riverside. Any album by them is great, but my favorite is probably Rapid Eye Movement.
For hard rock I would go with The Butterfly Effect. A great Australian band that's easy to get in to.
Here's a list of other bands you might like:
Faunts- M4
Lunatic Soul- Lunatic Soul (The same guy from Riverside)
Dredg- El Cielo
Thrice- Vheissu or Artist In The Ambulance
Isis- Panopticon
Filter- The Amalgamut
Anathema- Hindsight (If you like depressing music)
Ashes Divide- Keep Telling Myself It's Alright
Pain of Salvation- The Perfect Element Part I (Better than Dream Theater IMO)
Incubus- Make Yourself

03.10.09 | Wish You Were Here is way better than Dark Side of The Moon.
For Metal you can't possibly go wrong with Iron Maiden. Do try In Flames if you can.
Thrice- The Illusion of Safety or Vheissu
There are lots of great stuff you can check out, give a look at the Top Album Charts, you'll find some great stuff there too. |

03.11.09 | Get Porcupine Tree's 'Deadwing'. It's a far more consistent album than 'In Absentia', and the songs are generally shorter and more accessible ;)
If you like Dark Side of the Moon, get Wish You Were Here. The Wall is a masterpiece, but an entirely different masterpiece. |

03.11.09 | Oh and if you don't have Dream Theater's Images & Words, get it.
srsly |
upagainstthewall
03.11.09 | Karnivool - Themata |
kygermo
03.11.09 | Faith No More. Faith No More. Faith No More. South of Heaven by Slayer. Faith No More. I dont understand why Joshua Tree is considered U2's best when Achtung Baby clearly owns it. |
Vooligan
03.11.09 | The Butterfly Effect - Begins Here (Hard rock, amazing vocals)
Karnivool - Themata (see above)
Mammal - The Majority (rock/funk, the most fun you'll have listening to music)
I seriously reccomend the above three!!!
Dredg - El Cielo (THE alt rock album, a must)
Isis - Panopticon (Post Metal)
Deftones - White Pony (Hard Rock, a classic)
Ashes Divide - Keep Telling Myself its Alright (nice, catchy alt rock)
Fair To Midland - Fables from a Mayfly (Awesome alt rock)
Chevelle - Wonder What's Next (Catchy alt rock)
Sleep Parade - Things Can Always Change (Prog Rock, like Porcupine Tree, but more catchy) |
