04.23.12 | How up to date are you with Fringe? Because I just watched the last episode and felt like I had missed something |
theacademy
04.23.12 | I haven't watched the last few weeks, so don't spoil anything. I can't watch one at a time i need to watch like 8 in a row.
My friend said whatever happened last night was cool tho, but im saving them all for after finals |

04.23.12 | I loved digimon as a kid while everyone else watched pokemon |
theacademy
04.23.12 | i always admired how being a digi-destined required teamwork... it was a partnership, whereas pokemon training was just romanticized dogfighting. |

04.23.12 | firefly |
WeepingBanana
04.23.12 | yeah they completely shafted firefly, futurama and arrested development though
and i mean shafted... hard. especially firefly |
theacademy
04.23.12 | lol no they didn't.
fucking posers who didn't listen to me when i told them they were the greatest shows on television shafted those shows. THEY were more content to be watching scrubs or friends or doing their fucking gay ass homework. FOX gave me 5 seasons of Futurama and 3 seasons of Arrested Development. My idiot friends who only found the shows on DVD took them away from me.
Firefly, true they fucked up. |
macman76
04.23.12 | @acad Yea, and it was more mystic and cool (randomly being chosen and being isolated with some other random kids) and the digivolving was bad ass
I also recall watching the movie a few years back and being blown away by how great it was, I expected my digimon love was only nostalgic but that movie somehow rocked |
theacademy
04.23.12 | But hey at least all three shows were resurrected in some capacity... |

04.23.12 | I'd put 12 a little higher. But props for 14. |

04.28.12 | Fringe just got REALLY GOOD again. Also, stoked that Fox renewed them for one more season, gives them the chance to wrap things up properly |
WeepingBanana
04.28.12 | idk man they fucked over arrested development PRETTY hard. it doesn't compare to the anal rapage that they dealt to firefly but yeah |

04.28.12 | please explain how mr. linguistics major
and yea dev, im pretty pumped... cant wait to be done with finals so i can fucking veg out and watch that shit |
WeepingBanana
04.29.12 | i mean they ran their last 4 episodes all at once opposite to the winter Olympics. i guess i can't really think of very many specifics, but for as amazing as the show is and all of the praise and awards it garnered whilst having a pretty low viewership, you gotta figure the marketing could have done it more justice.
and i still can't really wrap my head around the totally unprovoked beef you have with me but okay |
Trebor.
04.29.12 | Fox are retarded at canceling good shows |
theacademy
04.29.12 | in TV, you can't blame 'marketing' like you can for movies (although, tbh, its a pretty rare case where marketing is the real culprit for a movie's failure (John Carter comes to mind though)). TV is all about timeslot.
Fox gave AD a fucking great one. Nobody watched. It advertised heavily. Nobody watched. I know it advertised heavily because I was watching. It also re-ran the show during the summer. Still nobody watched.
In the time before Netflix and Hulu, and when DVD seasons were 40 bucks a pop, people pick up serialized tv shows as easily as they can now. As for the last 4 episodes, that was after the show had been cancelled already. If youre already cancelled, scheduling blocks are actually more enjoyable imo (it was fucking awesome for Dollhouse)
I don't have beef with people on the internet. I am just mean to some people for a little while. |

You'll know exactly what episode I was complaining about when you do. Trust me, it sticks out |

04.29.12 | simpsons had 17 great seasons and 7 up and down ones that got shat on because they weren't pandering to the same crowd as family guy.
also, i'm watching arrested development right now lol |

04.29.12 | Lol, Simpsons has been terrible since like season 8, maybe 9 |
Masochist
04.29.12 | "Seasons 1-9 were absolute gold. Some of the best television ever."
For me, no matter how much people may disagree, the first nine seasons of The Simpsons (and, why not, the movie too) completely pardon the show for any discretions it may have had since then. When I think of what it is now, all I have to do is remember some classic line from my childhood, and I remember why it was my favorite show back then.
"trying to appeal to the family guy crowd."
...a show that is conspicuously absent from the list, I notice. Not a fan, acad? |
theacademy
04.29.12 | Even when the simpsons got bad, it wasn't nearly bad enough to ruin the rest of the show. Like they never shat on their legacy.
And Family Guy is ok, it's just not top 25. I wouldn't say it was conspicuously absent from the list, Fox put out a LOT of shows over 25 years haha
As for "trying to appeal to the family guy crowd," this never happened. Like I seriously don't understand how you could even compare the two. Before South Park's Cartoon Wars, nobody would have said this... people were criticizing the Simpsons for being too stale and only appealing to adults. |
theacademy
04.29.12 | Undeclared, on the other hand = conspicuously absent (#26) |
