Star Wars Lightsaber Battles Ranked

After re-watching the saga once again, I have decided to rank the many rlightsaber battles rrspread out across the six films. This wasn't an easy list to rmake, as most of them are all pretty rrawesome.
1John Williams
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Anakin Skywalker vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar
Obviously my first pick. The emotion, the ferocity, the entire student vs. master
battle with the perfect backdrop of the raging lava planet made for the best
lightsaber battle of the entire saga. You can feel the pain that Obi-Wan is feeling as
his former student is consumed by his anger and hate, and everything is made
even more tragic in the fact that Anakin believes that the only way to save his wife
is by destroying anyone who gets in his way, even his best friend and former
master. The conclusion on the banks of the lava river is one of the most gut-
wrenching of all six films.
2John Williams
Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader on Cloud City
Arguably the most iconic lightsaber duel of the entire saga and the best of the
original trilogy battles. We all were waiting for this climatic showdown, and it was
an example of Vader's overwhelming power in battle as he easily overwhelms his
son and breaks him before revealing the truth that he is his father. The way the
battle progresses from the carbonite freezing room into the dark in a cat-and-
mouse chase and concludes in the reactor shaft is epic and heightens the intensity
of the first father-son battle.
3 John Williams
Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Maul on Naboo
One of the best choreographed and intense lightsaber battles was the battle from
Episode I. Darth Maul is quite possibly the most badass Sith Lord of all time, and
finally seeing him in action and effortlessly take on both Jedi at once with a double-
bladed lightsaber was just awesome. Maul, a silent but deadly warrior, eventually
runs his blade through Qui-Gonn, and Kenobi's final stand actually shows him
fighting with a bit of anger not seen in his other battles (but just enough, not letting
it get the best of him as Anakin did). Although it was sad to see Maul so down so
easily once Kenobi regained the upper hand, this battle is still one of the most
memorable.
4John Williams
Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Yoda vs. Count Dooku on Geonosis
I think we've all waited a very long time to see Yoda in action. The legendary Jedi
Master has always been full of wisdom and words, but until this battle we had never
seen him in action until this battle. The way he just walks on into the room, deflects
all of Dooku's force attacks and then engages him in battle at last is something we
have all been waiting to see. Dooku is easily overwhelmed and forced to flee, and
Yoda's lightsaber style is surprisingly aggressive and extremely fast. One of the
best moments in the many moments the legendary master has had throughout the
films.
5John Williams
Star Wars, Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader on the Second Death Star
The second father-son lightsaber battle is much longer and more emotional.
Taunted by Palpatine the entire battle, Luke is left with the task of bringing his
father back from the dark side and defeating the emperor. This all of course
culminates in Vader killing his master and redeeming himself. The setting of their
battle in the second death star is also great.
6John Williams
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Yoda vs. Darth Sidious on Coruscant
Another highlight of Episode III. The two masters of the light and dark side of the
force face off in an intense duel that takes them from Palpatine's office into the
Senate Chamber. The duel ends in a stalemate, but judging from the way things
were going before Yoda ditched, Palpatine probably would have lost control of the
duel in the end.
7John Williams
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. General Greivous on Utapau
Obi-Wans brief fight with Greivous on Utapau wasn't all that is should have been,
although Grievous is still a badass. My problem with this battle, despite how cool it
is until they reach the landing platform, is that Obi-Wan shouldn't have been able to
fend off Grievous as long and as easily as he did. In the Clone Wars, Greivous
eliminated Jedi Masters with ease, and Obi-Wan severs all his limbs and kills him in
little time. Episode III as a whole didn't really do Grievous justice; he is a lot more
awesome in the expanded universe.
8John Williams
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Mace Windu vs. Darth Sidious on Coruscant
Prior to this battle, we got to see how awesome Windu is when he fought in the
battle of Geonosis in Episode II. Here, he single handedly has Sidious on the ropes,
even going as far as to nearly kill him had Anakin not interfered and severed his
arm. He proved that he is nearly as good as Yoda here.
9John Williams
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Count Dooku on General Grievous'
Flagship
The second duel between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Dooku turns out a lot different than
their first. Having had years of more experience, Anakin is easily able to hold his
own against Dooku this time, although Obi-Wan is the one who goes down rather
quickly. Anakin severs Dooku's hands and, through Palpatine's dark advice, kills
him, signaling his descent to the dark side.
10John Williams
Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope

Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader on the Death Star
The classic, first-ever lightsaber battle of Star Wars is certainly memorable, but it
just doesn't hold up to the others that came after it. Obi-Wan's single act of
defiance and willingness to give up his own life puzzles Vader, who is hell bent on
eradicating Obi-Wan and getting rid of the man he's hated for so many years. The
battle is short, uneventful, and although it is awesome there are much better ones
to be found throughout the saga.
11John Williams
Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Count Dooku on Geonosis
The first of two duels between these three is rather short. Anakin, still young and
inexperienced, charges at Dooku only to be annihilated by force lightning, leaving
Obi-Wan to get his ass kicked with relative ease. Even with two lightsabers, awaken
is still overwhelmed and loses his arm. One of the most boring battles of the saga
that should have ended a lot differently had Anakin and Obi-Wan not been so
stupid.
