12.26.09 | this isn't finished yet, but I'm sure I'll hate it. :D |
klap
12.26.09 | forgot to mention, that fiona apple album is the jon brion/unreleased version, not the one the studio eventually put out |
chaseguitar
12.26.09 | hahahaha 90. you fucking dick. you fucking sit on your tower. |
klap
12.26.09 | fucking nap! |
robertsona
12.26.09 | surprised at numero uno
but almost crimes is probably my favorite
and relative ways is best off 3 imo |
klap
12.26.09 | one other disclaimer; all the '09 albums on this list could probably move up over time, i just penalized them a bit because i've only listened to them less than a year. if they stand the test of time chances are they'll move up |
robertsona
12.26.09 | also 58 RULES |
klap
12.26.09 | i almost picked almost crimes, actually. it was very close
and yeah, relative ways is great, honestly there were about 5 songs i could have picked off source tags but how near, how far was one of the best concert experiences of my life so it won |
thebhoy
12.26.09 | big ol' wtf with Cassadaga, that album blows, especially compared to I'm Wide Awake It's Morning. Most of this list is excellent though, except for Of Montreal and a couple of others. We have similar views of Animal Collective. win. |
robertsona
12.26.09 | you also seem to have a taste for the kind of indie rock i find really boring :( |
klap
12.26.09 | lol, i loved cassadaga mostly because i couldn't stand most old bright eyes, although i do like wide awake. i just love the sound on that album
and everything of montreal's done after satanic panic and, to a lesser extent, sundlandic twins, sucks imo |
Observer
12.26.09 | Nice list, I've been listening to a lot from 44 lately. |
klap
12.26.09 | like what alex, besides spoon |
ART36
12.26.09 | OMG!!! NO RADIOHEAD!? lol j/k Solid list. |
robertsona
12.26.09 | well i really like that bss album but their self-titled is kinda boring (i know you didnt put that but whatever)
iirc i find elliott smith kinda boring (OMG!!!)
ryan adams, bright eyes, stuff like that |
klap
12.26.09 | i agree with you on bss' self-titled, i really don't like that one
lots of ryan adams' stuff is hit and miss, cold roses and to a lesser extent heartbreaker were just about all i listened to for months at one point in high school (my alt-country phase).
and you don't like smith's more produced albums? i guess i can see how his lo-fi stuff could get boring, but some of his latter arrangements are awesome. plus, it's all about his lyrics anyways |
robertsona
12.26.09 | although tbh lovers' spit and especially cause + time are like the reasons of why i dont like their self-titled as much |
klap
12.26.09 | you mean the type of song? b/c those songs are on forgot it in people |
klap
12.26.09 | thanks lew is i was thinking of you the whole time
|
robertsona
12.26.09 | "you mean the type of song? b/c those songs are on forgot it in people"
yeah, the type of song
i dont really remember lovers' spit (except that it's too long) but i remember cause + time settling into a groove that, while cool, kind of makes me just want to skip to a more exciting song like Almost Crimes or KC Accidental
and that kind of groove is what their s/t is all about, and it gets irritating, ESPECIALLY when the song isnt too interesting to begin with (an example where it's groovy but still awesome is "Swimmers")
dissertation over haha |
klap
12.26.09 | i think i agree with you, which is why i like forgot it in people so much more, because it has that flow where it can go from the trippy, flowing kind of song to a more energetic one |
robertsona
12.26.09 | also it seems like you kinda want recs on genres youre not sure about so for country try Loretta Lynn - "Van Lear Rose" and for metal I'll just suggest the way I myself got into it, which was via "Panopticon" by Isis. |
klap
12.26.09 | i like some country, most alt-country stuff though (cold roses is pretty country-ish). i'll check out that lynn album i remember the press jizzed all over it when it came out |
robertsona
12.26.09 | ya it's pretty jizzworthy |
klap
12.26.09 | gotta get on isis too i suppose, will report back |
robertsona
12.26.09 | not expecting you to like it tbh but WORTH A TRY |

12.26.09 | good stuff rudy. Your song choice for 38 is spot on. |

12.27.09 | wait, wtf Cause = Time (y'know, the actual name) is the best thing on YFIIP, tied with KC Accidental. |
Knott-
12.27.09 | youre good klapper |
robertsona
12.27.09 | whatever cause = time
i forgot bro
also idk it's just kind of a boring indie rock song to me. it's not bad it just passes through me. i blink and i miss it.
|
thebhoy
12.27.09 | but the guitar part, THE GUITAR PART! |
thebhoy
12.27.09 | also me and my friends hijacked the music at our friends' Christmas potluck dinner and played KC Accidental and it got replaced with Black Eyed Peas. Perhaps the biggest fail ever? |
klap
12.27.09 | thanks adam, you're good....for a brit! |
AggravatedYeti
12.27.09 | well totally worth coming back to actually check out -- thank you so much for 100 and 'You Forgot It In People' is gonna crack my top 3 as well so, highfive!
interesting choices rude boy, in a good way of course. |
klap
12.27.09 | haha yeah originally blackout was in the 80s but i didn't want to be crucified |

12.27.09 | The worst list I've seen yet. |
klap
12.27.09 | thanks gyro |
Gyromania
12.27.09 | Difference of opinion. I like quite a bit that you put on here, but overall I don't like the majority of it. Also, the favorite song listings are 100% different than mine, besides 'Limousine' from Brand New. Lovers Spit is great, but Anthems For A 17 Year Old Girl is my favorite. and for 31- I can't believe you didn't list 'In The Backseat'. |
klap
12.27.09 | i feel you, i tend to like much different indie than what's generally popular here. the BSS song was hard, i almost put almost crimes but anthems would be my 3rd choice definitely. and in the backseat ew lol |
Kiran
12.27.09 | urgh i don't think i'm gonna make a decade list because i can't be bothered and no one would care. yours is pretty sweet although i gotta admit i have no idea who the veils are :( |
klap
12.27.09 | kir i just wrote a review on nux vomica a few days back check it out |
klap
12.27.09 | concurred with lewis, neighborhood 1 was almost my choice |
AggravatedYeti
12.28.09 | that would be because neighborhood 1 is the best. |
Jemidu06
12.28.09 | nice japandroids gettin on there. stars and sons always gonna be my favorite off of #1. |
klap
12.28.09 | also an excellent song, like pretty much everything off there |
ninjuice
12.28.09 | Too 100 Non-Metal albums of the 00's
When will people realize THE BLACK ALBUM IS BETTER THAN THE BLUEPRINT
You also picked the worst Kanye album.
At least 67 and 68 are on here. |
klap
12.28.09 | i really like the black album and for several years thought it was better, but ehh i dk my opinion's changed the more i listen to blueprint |

AggravatedYeti
03.16.10 | lol credibility. |
MUNGOLOID
03.16.10 | kind of surprising to see clipse be the highest ranked hip hop album. also worth noting is the fact that you have imo, kanye's weakest effort (albeit 808's) on here. not saying that Graduation is a bad record (far from it) but it feels kinda funny seeing that rather than The College Dropout or Late Registration. same can also be said about the choice album for the roots but then again, that album is already stellar so no real complaint there.
also nice to see justin timberlake's best album on there. my personal favorite song off there is "LoveStoned / I Think She Knows (Interlude)."
if i had to recommend anything, it would be:
outkast - stankonia
cannibal ox - the cold vein
d'angelo - voodoo
|
klap
03.17.10 | yeah i love the other two kanye albums (hate 808s), but on a personal level graduation is the one for me. thanks for the recs i'll check them out |
EVedder27
03.17.10 | I need 9 |
klap
03.17.10 | yes you do michael |
Curse.
03.17.10 | GOD I love that Guster album |
klap
03.17.10 | first guster album i ever heard, so damn good. come downstairs and say hello live is so epic |
Curse.
03.18.10 | Yeah, I've loved them ever since they first released Keep It Together when I was going into high school. They played a patio show in Portland, Maine on the roof of the local radio station. It was so awesome. |
FromDaHood
06.14.15 | This list owns |
argonaut
06.14.15 | Pretty awesome list. Nice to see 73 and 89 on here, also nice choice for favorite song on 89. One Big Holiday is basically the perfect track, in my opinion. |
