terms of not only production but also, this will sound weird, "pleasure". like the national never
seemed like a band that would insert those AWESOME "ooh-ooh"s but they make the song so much better,
it feels like the national are really freeing themselves from silly "artistic integrity" (quotes) and
not afraid to sound sort of silly (though it doesnt in the end!). it just makes it a lot better, idk.
plus the melody of that part is fantastic. but i feel like the "i was afraid i'd eat your brains" is
just another forced line from a band that has way too many of them. plus the hook isnt as good as that
other part. but still a great song.
ruling me is just amazing. that chorus is pure bliss. |
