06.30.11 | Elfen Lied is one of those series where I loved the good parts but hated other aspects of it. The ridiculous harem storyline wore very thin by the end of the show, mostly because it never ended up amounting to anything. But the primary storyline is absolutely fantastic, especially near the end.
Serial Experiments Lain is also on my to-watch list someday when I want to watch something trippy. If you like it, check out Ghost Hound. That show is by the same studio and it's brilliant.
The rebuild of Evangelion are my favorite movies of all time.
I also recommend you check out Ergo Proxy, Gankutsuou, and most especially Phantom: Requiem of the Phantom. Phantom is one of the greatest animes ever yet hardly anyone knows about it. I'd put it at the top of your to-do list, personally. Just my suggestion. |

I couldn't get into Totoro. I mean, it was cute, and the bus stop scene was genuinely a work of art. But aside from that, I found it aimless, utterly boring, and the girls were just too annoying. |

But back then I liked a lot of the mindless, action-packed stuff like the Dragonball series, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Naruto, etc. But I do remember watching some Death Note and liking it, and I loved and still love Spirited Away. I need to see more Miyazaki films, and I was told that Full Metal Alchemist is the best anime ever; I may need to get on that too. |
