2007 Top 25 albums
I usually do top 10 lists for each year but screw that, 2007 was way too nice. |
25 | | Apparat Walls |
24 | | Mustard Plug In Black and White |
23 | | Sigur Ros Hvarf/Heim
Both discs offer great stuff for Sigur Rós fans. That version of "Starálfur" is maybe even better than the original, somehow. |
22 | | Gravenhurst The Western Lands
Farewell, farewell Nick Talbot. |
21 | | Wilco Sky Blue Sky
"Either Way" is one of my favorite album openers, ever. What a smooth fucking solo. I really love Nels Cline's guitar work on this album. |
20 | | Karkwa Les Tremblements s'immobilisent
This album would be their best if it was as consistent as the two they released after that. |
19 | | Gogol Bordello Super Taranta
fun fun fun |
18 | | The Weakerthans Reunion Tour
Please release a new album. |
17 | | Big D and the Kids Table Strictly Rude
"Shining On" is the soundtrack of my '08 summer. |
16 | | Gob Muertos Vivos
Gob was my favorite band when I was a kid (hence the stupid username. I'll let you guess what was my 2nd favorite band.). There's a few of the best songs they've ever written on here, it's a shame it went almost completely unnoticed. |
15 | | Against Me! New Wave
This album aged surprisingly well. Of course, "The Ocean" is more interesting to listen to now, after Laura Jane's transition. |
14 | | Andrew Bird Armchair Apocrypha
Andrew Bird can do no wrong. Pretty sure he farts melodies. |
13 | | Yndi Halda Enjoy Eternal Bliss
Not much to say; simply a great post-rock album. |
12 | | Spoon Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
This album took a long time to grow on me, but there's so many gems on it. Personal favorite of mine is "The Ghost of You Lingers". |
11 | | Streetlight Manifesto Somewhere in the Between
Pretty much as good as their debut in my opinion, maybe even better. Made all the other third wave ska bands sound like amateurs. |
10 | | Simian Mobile Disco Attack Decay Sustain Release
I saw these guys live a few years ago and there were 40 people in the crowd... tops. The fuck? |
9 | | Gallows Orchestra Of Wolves
Holy shit did this album slapped me in the fucking face back when it was released. I really miss Frank Carter's Gallows.
MY NAME IS CASANOVA |
8 | | Youth Group Casino Twilight Dogs
It sucks that most people know them as "that band that covered Forever Young". |
7 | | Paramore Riot!
Man, how I wanted to marry Hayley Williams back then. One damn fine pop album. |
6 | | Pantha Du Prince This Bliss
This album could have made the list just because of "Saturn Strobe". Good thing that the rest of the album is also fucking great. This is the album that got me into minimal techno. |
5 | | Wintersleep Welcome To The Night Sky
This band doesn't get enough recognition. |
4 | | Arcade Fire Neon Bible
I still don't get all the hate that album got. It's probably my favorite Arcade Fire album. |
3 | | Justice †
Holy shiiiiiet. |
2 | | Stars of the Lid And Their Refinement Of The Decline
Awesome album to fall asleep to. Even when you're awake, it's a wonderful ambient album. |
1 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
My favorite Radiohead album. Disc 2 does not exist in my head; the first disc is perfection. |
